The Ala D'Oro was a pure race bike , weighing in at just 95kg and revving to more than 8, 500 rpm.
The vast majority of the 74 examples built between 1967 and 1972
were sold to and campaigned by club level racers, although a handful were raced by the factory, including a 350cc example that came third in the 1968 350cc World Championship in the hands of Kelvin Carruthers.
This bike, as with most of the Aermacchi's in the UK, came to this country via Syd Lawton of Lawton And Wilson . The Southampton firm acted as a tuning shop, customising the " Lawton Aermacchi's " to their owners requirements and developing them for varios forms of racing.
There are notes made by Syd Lawton regarding settings and work done on this bike when being raced by both Martin Ashwood and Dennis Batchelor.
Starts and rides beautifully and is prepared ready to race.
