Pembleton Build Manual and historical documentation included

This car was factory built and first registered to Phil Gregory (Founder and Owner of Pembleton Motor Company) in May 2003. It featured in some Pembleton promotional material and was also included in a Pembleton group test in Complete Kit Car in 2008. (a copy will be supplied).
I purchased the car in October 2013 and have used it very little since, (due to various circumstances) Consequently it has only done 2, 187 miles from build. During my ownership it has been kept in an insulated workshop, dry and free of condensation.

It has just been MOT’ed and as usual did not present any problems. I did remove the petrol tank and clean the entire fuel system to be sure of no issues.

Due to its very low mileage and storage facilities it is in really excellent condition. There is no corrosion anywhere. All nuts and bolts have the original plating. The chassis frame and suspension components have their original black paint with no corrosion.
As can be seen the bare aluminium bodywork is well polished and free of dents. The 48 spoke chromed wire wheels are unmarked with tyres in excellent condition.
Being a promotional car for Pembelton it was built using excellent components. These include and BMW R100CS engine with twin plug heads. This is mated to a Citroen 2CV four speed gearbox (which of course has a reverse gear). The longitudinal suspension design from a 2CV is used but in this case with GAZ adjustable shock absorbers. The car has an amazingly compliant ride and with such a low centre of gravity the handling is predictable and surprisingly good.
The seat and other interior trim are practically as new in burgundy leather. A full tonneau is included which can also be used as a half tonneau which helps in colder weather. Behind the seat back is a huge weatherproof “boot”. I believe that this is around 200 litres but in any case can easily take a couple of large soft bags and all the other bits and pieces you might want for a road trip.
The driving position is very good with depressions in the floor for your heels. I am 6’1” with long legs and have no problem getting comfortable. The Brookland aero screens offer limited protection but it is fine driving at speed wearing some decent glasses or goggles.

The driving experience is really like nothing else unless you have experience of vintage and pre war cars. It is driving in its rawest form and you don’t need to be doing crazy speeds to have a great time. That said the 70hp BMW engine provides all the performance needed to keep up with all modern traffic. Indeed, due to the weight of only 350kg, the acceleration surprises many other drivers. When I drove to the MOT a few days ago I was flashed and waved at so many times, it is certainly not a car to be inconspicuous in!

There is an active owners club with an incredible group of talented builders. There are various meets and events, which in the past have included parades at Le Mans and drives up Prescott Hill Climb.
- details above

Pembleton is now in the hands of Phil Gregory’s son, Guy. He has taken the business in a new direction and is building cars to order of exceptional quality, but almost unchanged from this car. There are many films on You Tube describing the new T24 (as the Brooklands is now called). The most comprehensive is by “The Late Brake Show”

This gives you a great insight into the history of Pembleton and it is great to see that Guy is putting such effort in producing a high quality car that is so utterly different from any other vehicle out there. Of course the workmanship comes at a cost and a new T24 is £40, 000 plus.

These cars very rarely come on the market and there are only 33 Brooklands in existence, some according to the Chassis register are still under construction by their owners. I hope that the car goes to a caring home as it is, I feel, a bit of history and quite special. I also hope that the new owner has the time to drive and enjoy it as intended. It will surely bring a smile to you face, and that of many other drivers.
