This is a Laverda 1200, registered 20th August 1979, and has matching frame and engine numbers.
I have owned the bike since April 2004, making me the seventh owner.
Since I have owned this bike it has had the triplex primary chain replaced with two single chains which apparently is a preferred modification as it is stronger than the original.
I have replaced all the clutch plates.
Replaced the brake discs, callipers.
It has had the final drive engine sprocket, chain, and rear wheel sprocket renewed, including rear wheel cush drive rubbers.
Front fork seals replaced.
Seat recovered.
Wheels re coated.
Chain guard, front mud guard etc. re chromed
The barrels have been honed and new rings gapped and fitted.
A new (reconditioned) cylinder head (£3k) was purchased from Andy Wagner Lavereda -Paradies which included new valves, valve guides, value guide oil seals, etc and value seats to allow unleaded fuel to be used, along with new head gasket, rocker box gaskets.
An addittional stronger side stand has been fitted, as the original ones are not very supportive. This however did not involve any drilling or welding so can be unbolted if not required.
Stainless steel and Nylon “Slipper” fitted to protect the swing arm from wear by the chain as it leaves the engine sprocket.
In March of this year I replaced the Plugs, battery, and fitted new replacement jets in the carburettors.
The above is only a few of the things I have done to this bike, I have always enjoyed playing with it!!!!!
It has won quite a few condition, and best bike awards in England (International Laverda Owners Club), France (Laverda Club de France), and Belgium (Laverdisti Belgi)….. It is a very tidy, clean, motorcycle, that runs extremely well, and has always been reliable.
You will see from the photographs that there are a few small scratches on the tank, caused when moving the bike with my jacket open once.......
I will be very sad to see it go, however, due to health (and age) I can no longer enjoy this bike to its fullest, hence offering it for sale for someone else to enjoy.
