THE PININIFARINA EXQUISITELY STYLED SPIDER 2000 INJECTION OFFERED HERE SPENT IT'S FIRST 10 YEARS IN THE SUNNY AND WARM CLIMATE OF CALIFORNIA, USA , BEFORE BEING IMPORTED TO THE UK AND REGISTERED WITH DVLA ON 27 APRIL 1992. DURING 2007-2008 THE CAR UNDERWENT AN EXTENSIVE RESTORATION AND REMAINS VERY IMPRESSIVE IN ALL RESPECTS TODAY. THE GLEAMING SILVER METALLIC PAINT WORK IS OF A SHADE OF SILVER RESEMBLING POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL OR ALUMINIUM. THERE ARE NO DENTS, SCRATCHES, SCUFFS OR BLEMISHES TO BE FOUND AND NO EVIDENCE OF RUST/ ROT. THE CHROME WORK IS VERY GOOD AS IS THE MOHAIR HOOD WHICH REMAINS WIND AND WATERTIGHT. THE STRIKING PEPPER POT ABARTH ALLOYS SIT ON MATCHING TYRES WITH PLENTY TREAD. SINCE THE SAID RESTORATION, THE CAR HAS COVERED A MERE 5K OR SO MILES. THE SPIDER IS PART OF A COLLECTION OF CLASSICS KEPT AND MAINTAINED IN A HEATED & FULLY ENCLOSED WATER TIGHT ENVIROMENT.

AS STATED THIS STUNNING SPORTS ROADSTER CONVERTIBLE IS IN SUPER ALL ROUND ORIGINAL CONDITION. THE LITTLE ROADSTER DRIVES AND STOPS GREAT, AND SO MUCH FUN, TURNING HEADS WHEREVER IT TRAVELS AND NO WONDER GIVEN THE VERY FEW EXAMPLES EXAMPLES OUT THERE AND THE CAR HAVING RETAINED IT'S ORIGINAL BEAUTIFUL APPEARANCE/ CONDITION.

ALL BODY PANELS ARE STRAIGHT AND TRUE. THERE ARE NO DENTS ETC. THE GLEAMING METALLIC SILVER PAINTWORK IS IN EXCELLENT ORDER PROVIDING A DEEP SHINE. THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES, SCUFFS OR MARKS. THE HOOD IS PERFECT. IT IS WATER AND WIND TIGHT. THERE IS ALSO A HOOD TIDY COVER. THE ORIGINAL SILVER ABARTH "PEPPERPOT" ALLOY WHEELS WITH MATCHING TYRES ARE IN GREAT SHAPE AS IS THE CHROME WORK. IN ESSENCE, THIS IS A TRULY STUNNING AND RARE EXAMPLE OF THE CLASSIC ITALIAN 4 SEAT CONVERTIBLE SPORTS ROADSTER/ GRAND TOURER.

THE INTERIOR IS ALSO IN GOOD ORDER, ORIGINAL, CLEAN AND UNCLUTTERED. THERE ARE NO TEARS, UNSIGHTLY SCUFFS OR MARKS, SIGNS OF WEAR OR DISCOLORATION. ALL IS IN TACT, FUNCTIONING AS INTENDED, COMFORTABLE AND PLEASANT TO THE EYE.

THE CHASSIS AND UNDERCARRIAGE IS CLEAN AND SOLID IN ALL AREAS, AS ARE THE FLOOR PANS ETC. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ROT/ RUST ANYWHERE.

IN 1979, PININIFARINA PRODUCED THE SPIDER 2000 INJECTION, BRANDED AS THE PININIFARINA SPIDER AZZURRA FOR THE U. S MARKET AND PININIFARINA SPIDER EUROPA FOR THE EUROPEAN MARKET.

THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED BY FIAT (WITH A PININIFARINA STYLED BODY) IN TURIN UNTIL 1981, WHEN PININIFARINA TOOK OVER MANUFACTURING OF THE MODEL. THE MANUFACTURE OF THIS MODEL OF FIAT 2000 INJECTION SPIDER CAME TO AN END IN JULY 1982.

THE 4 CYLINDER ENGINE USED IN THE SPIDER HAS A DOUBLE OVERHEAD CAM, ALUMINIUM CROSS FLOW HEAD. IT STARTED IN 1966 WITH A CAPACITY OF 1438CC PROGRESSIVELY INCREASING TO 1608CC IN 1970, 1756CC IN 1974 AND FINALLY 1995CC IN 1979. THE FIAT TWIN-CAM ENGINE WAS DESIGNED BY EX-FERRARI ENGINEER AURELIO LAMPREDI. BOSCH FUEL INJECTION REPLACED THE PREVIOUSLY USED WEBER CARBURETORS IN THE THE 1980S. THIS FAMILY OF ENGINES REMAINED IN PRODUCTIONS WELL INTO TO 1990S, GIVING IT ONE OF THE LONGEST PRODUCTION RUNS IN AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY.

THE DOUBLE OVERHEAD CAM (DOHC) VERSION OF THE ENGINE WAS THE FIRST MASS MANUFACTURED DOHC TO USE REINFORCED- RUBBER TIMING BELTS, AN INNOVATION THAT CAME INTO NEAR UNIVERSAL USE IN THE DECADES TO FOLLOW IN IT'S PRODUCTION. IT'S DERIVATIVES WERE THE POWERED RACE CARS SUCH AS THE FIAT 131 MIRAFIORI, 124 SPECIAL T, LANCIA BETA MONTECARLO, DELTA INTEGRALE, AND INDEED MANY OTHERS.
