Bought from my friend Mick Perry who is a professional motorcycle engineer.
Mick knowing my love of Vmax, s decided to import an early one to completely restore . This one is forty years old in 2025 and therefore will not require an MOT or Road Tax.
Mick then disassembled the bike removing the engine from the frame. The frame etc was sent away for stripping down, sand blasting and powder coated.
The engine whilst out was stripped, tolerances checked and adjusted ie tappets etc, and a new starter clutch fitted. At this time new oil filter and oil was replaced.
The engine was replaced into the frame awaiting for the rest of the bike to be painted original Yamaha colour red. The red paint was supplied by rsbikepaint. com who are professional suppliers of classic bike paints.
Rear suspension was stripped, rebuilt and chrome polished as were other other bright work on the bike.
The original exhausts were untidy and replaced with these highly sought after pair of Laser Prostocks, which apparently are a great upgrade and have a lovely sound.
Brake calipers were stripped cleaned and new seals and pads replaced.
Forks were stripped and new seals replaced,
New Dunlop Qualifier Tyres were bought to replace the old tyres.
Upon seeing the completed project I pestered Mick to sell the bike to me which was refused until later he undertook another project and needed the funds to complete it.
Sadly now I, m of an age ( 85 ) and am finding my two Vmax, s and My Triumph T120 too heavy to handle, not being able to manoeuvre them around or to place them on the centre stands.
So in conclusion this is a beautiful restored Yamaha Vmax, which in my honest opinion will only increase in value, shortly becoming a true classic in 2025. The bike was imported from Japan. Mick purchased the bike from the importers and completed the necessary paperwork, completing the DVLA, s requirements Nova etc.
It sounds amazing and runs brilliantly with no known faults. Everything works as it should, and I am sure the new owner will be extremely pleased with his/ her purchase.
I have owned many Vmax, s over the past 25 years, and this one is certainly the nicest . If I was younger this bike I would look on as a keeper.
