Description
January 1961 registered Singer Gazelle IIIB Saloon with rare factory fitted Smiths Easidrive 3 speed automatic transmission and individual front seats
Finished in Azure Blue/ Foam White with matching interior the car has only covered 27, 000 miles from new and comes with some old MOTs , service history etc which help verify it.
For many years the car was part of a collection in the South of England before being sold by ACE classic cars in Leeds around 12 years ago. Since then it had seen regular but limited use including journeys from Cheshire to Scotland.
The car was laid up by it's elderly owner due to health reasons before the start of lockdown. Unfortunately being parked at the side of the road hasn't helped and it's condition deteriorated and it started to receive unwelcome attention following posts about abandoned vehicles on social media
I purchased it as a very tired looking non runner.
It is now up and running, has 4 new tyres, and pretty much everything works as it should with a very sweet sounding engine.
The Easidrive transmission however doesn't seem to select 2nd gear other than on very rare occasions., just accelerating to 25-30 mph and changing directly and smoothly into top. There is a correct diagnostic test set with the car though I've not investigated the issue. The previous owner has a large quantity of scarce Easidrive parts which he's promised to sort out and these when they appear will obviously be passed to a new owner
Whilst out of use the car has become very damp inside, lifting the veneer from the dash and causing the front carpets to rot - these have been disposed of but the car still smells musty inside. Seats, door cards and headlining are excellent however. Underneath is heavily waxoyled so appears quite solid - Panel wise front wings and inners are excellent, rear arches are good but there is filler in the skins on all 4 doors and small quantities in the lower rear wings, paintwork has been patched in places too. Floors and boot all appear good and solid. Chrome is acceptable, and other than one badge is all present. It will start up, drive and stop but I'd advise trailering it as the furthest I've been in it is 7 or 8 miles.
Any questions please ask.
