Description
According to portuguese documents I have, this Dresch is an example with matching numbers. Frame number is 2906, engine number is 2755. Frame front label is shown in photos.
This bike was completely restored mechanically, painted and chromed according to origin, according to information I received from Club du Motociclettiste de Macon and François Henry Denise, son of Henry Dresch, builder of this innovative motorcycle. I visited François Henry Denise at his house near Chartres (more than 40 years ago) and at the time he offered me speedometer the bike has. This speeddometer is original and has been rebuid (but I never tested it). The remaining mechanism is incomplete. I only have sprocket and clamps (like photos). I still save some original watch and speedometer parts that I never throw in the trash (like photos). It is to be from the original mechanism that a qualified watchmaker is recovering the original watch from the dial replica. The company that gave rise to Dresch was founded by Henry Dresch in the early 1920s in France. Initially, between 1923 and 1928, the motorcycles were manufactured under the name “Grimpeur”. Only after 1928 were they produced under the name “Dresch”. This production reached its peak with the manufacture of 10, 000 motorcycles in one year.
It produced motorcycles with displacements ranging from 175cc to 500cc. The monobloc was the brand's top model. The engine has 14hp and a stroke/ bore of 64 x 77mm and reached a speed of 105 km/ h with the 4-speed gearbox. The frame was a pressed-metal double cradle type. With the outbreak of war, production of Dresch motorcycles was discontinued. The Dresch monobloc is an attractive model with its twin-cylinder engine and an admirable appearance in keeping with the stamped steel frame.
The Dresch monobloc was produced between 1930 and 1938.
