Description
1988 Trabant 601N 2dr Limousine Fully restored in 2021 Thoroughly overhauled engine New electrical system and brakes Detailed photo documentation of the restoration When it was introduced, the Trabant was an inexpensive 'people's car' full of interesting solutions, but it remained in production for so long that it became an object of derision by Westerners, a symbol of Soviet car backwardness. But it probably deserved no less respect than the equally famous 'people's car' produced in West Germany. Made of Duroplast, a corrosion-resistant material, in many respects the original Trabant was more innovative than the Beetle. It was a cornerstone of the German Democratic Republic and has become iconic today. There are probably very few Trabants in circulation in as good a condition as this example, restored in 2021 at a cost of over € 6, 000. The bodywork and paintwork were restored, the interior redone and the engine completely overhauled. The result is a very neat looking car, in an attractive light blue livery with a white roof and with a very pleasant brown and grey vinyl clad interior. It almost certainly looks better today than the day it was built. The carburettor has received attention recently and the electrics, brakes and rear leaf springs are new, so this iconic and unmistakable car is ready to be driven. Registered in 1988 Bulgarian car, formerly produced in the GDR Restored in 2021 as described above Restoration documented with numerous photos For bodywork and interior more than 6. 000€ The five-digit odometer shows 69, 494 km, Body and upholstery restored in 2021 Light blue paint with white roof looks good New tyres and steel wheels restored; there is no trace of rust on the car Pleasant brown and grey vinyl upholstery interior in very good condition New interior trim, including seats and door panels Headlights and exterior trim in good condition.
