Description
A Triking cyclecar, a two-seater, open cockpit sports car in the tradition of a 1920s Aero-type cyclecar.
First registered in June 2024, the vehicle has done less than 1000 miles from new, remaining in excellent condition throughout.
It was built to a fine standard by a highly capable engineer who lives in the next village to us; a man with wide ranging interests including vintage cars, motorcycles and steam engines. Some years ago he'd built a type 2 Triking with 1100cc engine - this one he declared to be even better!
The 950cc Moto Guzzi engine and drivetrain was sourced from a 1990 motorcycle which had covered only 700 miles from new. The kit was supplied new in 2023, with no expense spared on the build which includes 15 inch rear wheel with Blockley tyre, stainless front wheels, quick-release steering wheel and reversing gearbox.
The 950cc high-torque engine is fitted with carburettors, the builder's preference to keep maintenance simple and free of electronics.
Bought on the spur of the moment (and very much a heart over head purchase), several hundred miles into ownership I have, reluctantly, had to accept that my six foot three body and size 13 feet are fundamentally incompatible with the car.
For now I will stick with my pre-war and vintage cars; the Triking needs a good home with an appreciative - if slightly smaller - owner.
You are welcome to view the car, I'd be more than happy to take you out for a spin around the local lanes (as long as you pick a dry day!)
