Description
Here for sale is my 5 speed 1995 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster with matching numbers which was imported from the USA in the summer of 2022, it was UK registered in September that year and the V5 is in my name. The bike was imported as a running but sad looking scruffy project but the engine, electrics and frame were all in excellent condition, the frame still having all of the original union labels etc. The work done has been mainly cosmetic - cleaning, polishing and painting and then servicing and fettling/ replacing to make it ready to ride and to ensure reliability. The work includes:
Tank and mudguards stripped and painted with two pack and lacquer
Wheels stripped, polished and repainted
Carburettor cleaned through and fettled
Oil and filter changed
Brakes bled and fettled
New chrome clutch lever
New final drive belt
New cables
New HD tyres
New horn
New back light unit
New handle bars
New mirrors
New grips
The bike has 27, 650 miles on the clock but has only done circa 600 miles since it's recommissioning in 2022. It starts, rides and stops perfectly and all of the electrics, lights, horn, self cancelling indicators etc. work as they should. The engine is oil tight and there are no leaks, rattles, knocks or smoke. It comes with 12 months MOT and has just had the oil changed ready for the summer. This is a great bike to ride, its surprisingly quick when you want it to be, comfortable, handles nicely, stops well and looks and sounds fantastic.
If you click on the link below there's a walk around video of the bike starting, running and revving.

Thanks for viewing, sensible offers consideredI bought this as a mainly cosmetic project which I was anticipating giving to a friend who hadn't ridden a bike for over 30 years. I've had many classics over the years which he had always admired but I thought this was the perfect bike to celebrate his return to biking with as they're super reliable, handle well and have good brakes, they also have bags of character and sound and look fantastic. He chose the colour, decals, seat, rack, bars etc. but when the bike was finished we realised it was probably a bridge too far for him as sadly his health has deteriorated. Since then I've kept the bike hoping things might improve and he’d review his decision but it's been sat in my garage and doesn't get the miles it deserves so it’s time to sell as I need the space. It's a great little 883 and because it's 30 years old comes with loads of character and charm with the chrome and polished casings
