I am selling my much loved Austin Healey 3000 1960. I have owned the car from 2010. I imported her from Georgia USA into Spain where she was registered as a historic vehicle. It s a very interesting car having been raced in the USA during the 80's and also took part in a racing series in Grand Bahama where Sir stirling Moss also took Part. (Copies of pages from a magazine article come with the car).
After recommisioning the car with extesive documentation of mechanical work carried out she was used for non competative rallies as far as the island of Corsica . With a couple of trips to the UK carried out, more recently the car has been used for more sedate touring. Benefitting from an older restoration, after 10 years in my ownership the cars paintwork and interior required a refresh. The complete interior has been professionally reupholstered and retrimmed . The result is a very presentable car that receives interest and praise where ever we go. Obviously the bumpers could be removed again to give the car a more racy look.
The gearbox is fitted with the all important overdrive for a more relaxed driving experience. This unit was rebuilt using quality friction components from Denis Welch Motorsport. At the same time the gearbox selector forks were were also replaced using components purchased from Denis Welch. Almost all other spares have been bought from AH Spares including Springs, Radiator, Electric cooling fan, Fuel tank, Electronic ignition and New wire wheels fitted with Michelin 180 HR XAS recognised as one of the best tyres for this car.
Extra spares are included in the sale. The car is by no means perfect, but it represents excellent value for money for someone looking for a Big Healey with interesting racing history that could be prepared for classic rallying or driven and enjoyed as it is. The car comes with its heritage certificate but the engine is not matching numbers, though it is from a close run of numbers. A Moto Lita wood rimmed steering wheel has been fitted during my ownership. The current technical inspection expires 20/ 07/ 2026 but this vehicle is now exempt due to it's age.
Full weather equipment is included consisting of Hood, side curtains with storage bag and a tonneau cover. All bodywork rubber trim pieces have been renewed.
