Description

Once a very common sight on our roads, but which now appears to be very quickly disappearing, is the Mondeo ST TDCi.

I have had a number of these over the years, in just about every colour, and thoroughly enjoyed owning every single one of them.

I purchased the car late last year from a very close friend, who had owned the car since 2020. It was his pride and joy, and he spent a small fortune on it. I couldn’t believe that he was selling it to be honest, and as a result, and for the sake of a little nostalgia, I had to have it!

Finished in the popular performance blue with contrasting full black electric Recaro seats, I personally think that the car looks great. The paintwork has a lovely deep shine - as it has been regularly washed and hand polished with quality products. The aforementioned interior is also in lovely order, with no untoward wear and tear to the leather. It’s evident from the way the car presents itself, that it has always been well looked after and loved.

On the road the car drives superbly. It starts first turn of the key, no matter what the weather and it does not emit any excessive smoke. There are no knocks, bangs, rattles or creaks and it doesn’t use any fluids. The clutch bites exactly where it should and there is no dual mass noise or slip. This really is a lovely car to drive.

The car has been tastefully improved with a full turbo back, stainless steel exhaust system. It’s not loud or obtrusive, but it sounds superb when it’s under boost. The car has also received a stage 1 remap which was carried out by B. D Performance, South Wales. I have the invoice and the rolling road printout which shows 170 BHP and 298. 31 Ft. lbs of Torque. This transforms the car and makes it pull effortlessly in any gear. In my opinion, it’s now exactly how it should have left the factory. I am a mature owner, as was my friend, therefore please don’t think that because it has been modified that it has been abused - far from it!

There is a lot of service history present with the car. This consists of a stamped service book and invoices for parts and work carried out. I will detail this below –

When I purchased the car in late November, I went about rectifying issues that my friend had not had time to address. The main one being that the rear springs that had recently been fitted to the car were not the correct ones. This resulted in the rear of the car being far too high.

On the 28/ 11/ 2024 I purchased a new set of lowering springs, along with two new rear shock absorbers and two new rear top mounts. I am a fussy guy with my cars, therefore whilst I was at it, and as I am aware that the Mondeo suffers with perishing rear subframe bushes, I decided to replace them. To be honest, when I removed the subframe the bushes were excellent, and didn’t need renewing, but change them I did. I finished the job off with adding two new rear anti-roll bar link arms and a fresh oil and filter change. The mileage at this time was 95, 098.

I have since added 20mm wheel spacers all round and literally only last week, I replaced the turbo actuator, as it was becoming temperamental and only working when it felt like.

The original handbooks and Ford Wallet are present, and it comes with two remote keyfobs.

The M. O. T is valid until the 14th of February 2026 - which it passed with no advisories, and it has done very little mileage since passing (253 miles).

The tax costs are £265 per year, or £23. 19 per month if you’d prefer.

It is fully HPi clear.

The car is registered in my name and at my address, and the full (V5) log book is present.

The registration number is EK07 GMY if you’d like to carry out your own checks. Negatives?

There are only a few things worth mentioning.

There are a few small car park dents here and there. I was intending on having them removed with a mobile dent company. They aren’t that bad, but something that I would have liked to have done.

There is a scratch/ scuff to the rear bumper on the passenger side, and another scuff on the lower part of the front bumper along with a crack.

The alloy wheels have the usual corrosion around the polished lip.
The heated seats have stopped working and the CD player is intermittent, although the radio works as it should.

The car is quite low, therefore if you have adults in the rear, it does occasionally rub when going over nasty bumps. It has only done this since the wheel spacers were fitted, but I suppose that’s the trade off for having it looking better!

And that’s about it. I am being very honest here, and I’m sure that many people wouldn’t mention some of the above, considering it “par for the course” considering the car’s age and mileage. However I would rather be totally transparent and up front from the outset. Please have a good look at my pictures, and if you want to see something specific then please let me know.

To sum it up - The Mondeo ST is becoming quite a rare sight on the roads these days, especially relatively low mileage examples such as this. I am really in two minds about selling it as I know I won’t find another one quite like it. As far as I am aware, it needs no money spending on it (apart from the negative points above of course) and it is all ready to drive away and enjoy. I will genuinely miss the car, as will I miss having petrol station chit chats with complete strangers, who always comment, and compliment the car.

Please let me know if you would like to know anything else about it and viewings/ inspections are more than welcomed.
