Description
This Geep was rescued from a Welsh mountainside and taken to Gainsborough in November 2021. It was originally built from a 1976 Ford Escort 1300 donor car, and has been totally stripped, and rebuilt with new steel front half of chassis and both bumpers.
The project has now stalled due to my age which has caught up with me - bending and/ or floor grovelling is no longer achievable, so someone else needs to finish it.
The engine was rebuilt with honed bores, new bearings and a rebuilt head - it is NOT unleaded. The engine was running fine but there is now an ignition problem which needs fault finding, the distributor refitting etc. it’s probably something simple. There are new points and condenser to be to put in.
A new front subframe has been fitted, and both front legs have been stripped and rebuilt.
A new clutch is fitted, but untried as the brakes are not done, the gearbox/ back axle seem OK but are unknown.
A new marine ply floor has been made and fitted. The leather seats are from a Hyundai Coupe.
The original wiring loom has been stripped, tidied, and refitted and the dashboard has been refurbished.
The wheels have been stripped and powder coated and have new tyres.
The body is as taken off the mountain, somewhat patina'd. No roof, but included in the sale are two used doors which I bought but have not fitted
The fuel tank has been replaced with a good used one, however the fuel gauge is not working (incompatibility of the sender?).
The windscreen wiper motor has been overhauled, and new arms and blades are included.
I have a full photographic record of the rebuild.
So what does it need for MoT ?
1 Fuel pump to be sorted, it is a replacement mechanical one but it’s not working properly.
2 Ignition not working, the problem could be a misplaced wire on the ignition switch. The distributor, HT leads etc are removed from the engine.
3 Brake master cylinder has been overhauled and is ready to be refitted. All the pipes are there, needs connecting, filling and bleeding.
4 Wiring ie lighting etc all in and working. The lights will need to be adjusted
The car is correctly registered, is in my name and on a SORN.
Realistically, a few day’s work should see it ready for MoT
