I purchased this Manta as a rolling shell in 2008 into which I fitted a Peter Maiden uprated 2. 0l engine and a 5 speed gearbox. The engine was purchased by me and is estimated to have done a maximum of 20, 000 miles to date.
The shell had been fully restored and resprayed with disc conversions, new lines and uprated suspension. I have a copy of the ebay advert with pictures of the car at that time.
The car has been kept garaged for the last 17 years and with only surface rust underneath – see photos. The car passed its MOT on 19/ 5/ 2025 without any advisories. The paintwork needs attention to small chips and scratches; the main issue is that the rear spoiler has cracked. The rear crankshaft and gearbox seals and oil were replaced in April.
MOT history shows that the car has moved little over the last 11 years – the odometer was changed hence the low reading. There is a full Recaro interior but the headliner is missing. A sunroof is present but again no rust. The V5 and original owner’s manual in my procession. This Manta has been upgraded from its original specification and now balances a few more hp with sensible braking and suspension combined with a sound body. The car has never been raced or rallied and comes with some spares (wheels, mechanicals, trim etc) which are included in the price.
