For sale is my 1943 Willys MB Jeep.
Delivered new in 1943 to the Australian army, it served with an Australian unit in Burma for the remainder of the second world war. It is rumoured to have also served in the Korean war afterwards.
It then returned to Australia, where it remained until it was imported to the UK in March 2006, it then underwent a period of restoration. The engine was rebuilt, and the Jeep was re-wired using correct cloth covered wire. Since then, it has passed through two more owners, myself being the third UK owner.
I purchased the Jeep in October 2022, I found the Burma connection appealing as my father served in Burma for the duration of the second world war. I was also attracted by the fact that it retains its original tub as well as its original engine & gearbox which are matching numbers.
As you can see, I have painted the 14th army, 25th Dragoons insignia onto the Jeep, which was my father’s unit during the war. My talented wife made the period looking camouflage netting you see on the bonnet, and I have collected a few other period pieces to complement the jeeps wartime appearance, such as the replica Mills grenades, the replica No3 Lee Enfield rifle, wartime ammunition boxes, wartime jerry can, wartime dust goggles… the list goes on. All of which are included in the sale along with a complete and almost new Allied canvas set with doors, which are in very good condition.
There is a good amount of paperwork history, detailing past works and invoices for the parts for the engine re-build and the re-wiring as well as more recent works. It had a new Carter carburettor in 2022 and it has been serviced regularly and meticulously maintained in my ownership. It has proved itself to be extremely reliable having regularly attended many classic vehicle events and road runs across Aberdeenshire.
