1978 Ducati Darmah in fantastic condition. This is the earlier sought after whale tail (seat and tail unit in one-piece stylish upswept form) version. Sought after period black and gold paint.
Electric and kick start.
Extensive history file together with workshop manual, brochures, magazines etc. Including copy of period Italian comic book with character that inspired the Darmah tiger.
36000 documented original miles
Recently had a complete engine rebuild with a Ducati classic bevel specialist at a cost of over £6000. Work included new crank, con rods, rebore, pistons, oil pump, all bearings etc. Work included bevel heads shims checked and valves reseated. Nicely run in and has had a further oil and filter change, carb balance etc.
Heads were completely re - shimmed less than 1500 miles ago. All brake fluids and pads were replaced at the same time.
Previous engine work included heads being lightly polished and matched.
Recent replacement of ignition wiring to crank sensors – these break down over time as run through hot oil. The bike is an easy starter hot or cold.
Dellorto 40mm carbs and manifolds, well set up accordingly. The bike pulls cleanly and strongly from go and keeps going. Good usable midrange.
Clutch has been upgraded with a Surflex one.
The speedo and tacho have been completely refurbished by a specialist (Peter Bond).
Cush drive rubbers were replaced at 33k.
Stainless Conti replica exhaust system that sounds like a big old Ducati should.
The frame has been professionally repainted in the past and is still in lovely condition.
Tank, seat unit and side panels have also been repainted to a very high standard, and are still in really nice condition with no bubbles, lifting or fade.
New tyres fitted earlier this year. Very responsive radial continental classic/ road attack.
Period Koni dial a ride rear shocks fitted which genuinely work really well giving a firm but compliant ride.
