Description

It's a great bike. This is the lowest price I will offer now.

I had the bike out today, it started immediately, settled down to a good even tickover quickly, and didn't miss a beat in the 30 odd miles that I did on it. It handles excellently and goes very well.

This motorcycle is as nice as it looks. It really is.
I have reduced the price.
I am selling is that I do not have the space, and I am unable to ride bikes properly at the moment.
But |I really do not mind keeping the old lad.

1982 Moto Morini 500 SEi V-Twin:

Engine:   478cc, 72-degree V-twin.
Power:   46 bhp
Transmission: 5 speed gearbox.
Carburetion:  2x 26mm Dell'Orto carbs.
Weight:   ≈ 184kg wet.

“The Moto Morini 500 SEi V-twin, produced from the late 1970s to the 1980s, was a 478cc air-cooled V-twin motorcycle known for its sporty touring capabilities and refined handling, offering a more relaxed ride than its smaller 350cc sibling while maintaining agile characteristics. Its specifications included a 72-degree V-twin engine, 26mm Dell'Orto carburettors, and either a 5 or 6-speed gearbox in the later Sei-V models, delivering around 46 bhp and a top speed of approximately 100-109 mph.
Road tests and reviews from the era highlighted its substantial torque, excellent handling. It was praised it for its’ for its sublime handling, which was described as: “…nimble and light, with excellent suspension and chassis performance, comparable to a 250cc Grand Prix bike.
However, it has comfortable ergonomics for touring, featuring a well-regarded V-twin engine with good torque, contributing to its enjoyable road manners.”

The machine has adjustable Tarozzi billet “clip ons”, and adjustable footrests.
It rides very well, pulls well and corners like an FS1E on steroids!
It is a genuine pleasure to ride, it rides as it should, and easily keeps up with modern traffic, and the brakes are very effective. It would be an excellent A2 licence classic bike!

The bike was first registered in England on the 16tth of September, 1997.
The bike has been very well maintained.
I have very little documented history for it. But I have thoroughly serviced and tested it, and it's OK, and well sorted.
I bought it from a chap who told me that he had got it from a collection of bikes, where it had been a static display for a number of years.
In the last 8 years from July 2018, to now, it has only traveled 603 kilometres, or 375 miles. And I’ve done most of those!
In fact according to the available MoT certificates/ on-line records, since 2013 the bike has traveled 4, 347 kilometres, or, in proper money, 2701 miles, in twelve years.
In total it has recorded 37, 060 miles.

It’s sold as seen, and no warranty is given or implied.

Recommissioning:

The work carried out to recommission the bike was as follows:

1. The engine oil was changed and the filter cleaned (they do not have a “spin on” type oil filter);
2. The valve clearances were measured and found to be set accurately, no particular wear was observed. The top end was carefully inspected and in fact looked in very good condition.
3. The cylinder head cover breather tubes were replaced as required, as were the fuel pipes.
4. The starter motor, whilst working well, was serviced; friction pads were good, and its' oil was topped up.
5. The cam belt changed as a matter of course;
6. The clutch was checked, and was found to be operating well.
7. The carburettors were stripped, sonically cleaned with particular attention being paid to the jets, had all seals/ gaskets replaced, and then set up. The floats were tested as part of the process. The carbs were balanced.
8. The air-filters were changed, but it didn’t improve fueling that much so the air-filter housing was removed and replaced by pod filters, to eliminate poor slow speed running. The “plug chop”, showed a good greyish colour and the bike runs well now.
9. The choke cable assembly was replaced by separate choke assemblies on each carburettor.
10. The rear suspension was tested, and operates as if new.
11. The front forks were completely stripped. The springs were measured and were well within tolerance and serviceable, there was no play in the bushes, and the fork stanchions whilst showing appropriate signs of wear, were within tolerances stated, were not pitted or damaged, were perfectly straight, and were serviceable. Seals replaced.
12. Throttle cable oiled and inspected, clutch cable oiled, and inspected, speedometer cable renewed.
13. The fuel tank was in good condition internally. Tank cap and seal are serviceable.
14. The mirrors were replaced for period correct items.
15. An “MPH bezel” was designed and printed to be a temporary and easily removable fitment to the speedometer. It was calibrated for reasonable accuracy, (refer to photographs).
16. A screen was added.
17. A trickle charging cable was added.
18. The battery was serviced and charged and is still quite adequate.

The choke cable assembly, air box and air filters will come with the bike.
