1988 Clan clover. Rare factory built sports car fitted with the excellent Alfa Romeo 1. 5 litre Ti flat-four 105 bhp boxer motor and five-speed gearbox in a mid-engine layout. The clover was the last of the line of clan models which started with the Imp engined Crusader. Total production of the clover at the factory in Northern Ireland was around 20 cars. The body was altered with the addition of wing flares and rear glass hatch to allow fitment of the Alfa engine. The interior of the car has grey leather covered seats and dashboard.
This car was the subject of a full and very expensive 2 1/ 2 year restoration with every last part removed and either refurbished or replaced. The body work was stripped back to the gel coat and refinished in 2 pack Old English white with a green stripe on bottom of doors.
This car attracts huge attention wherever it goes and is a regular attendee at car shows throughout Scotland. Due to its rarity the value of the car is now on the rise. This car has been extensively modified to improve reliability and the driving experience and is now fitted with Hillman Imp front suspension with vented disc brakes to replace the troublesome clover suspension. The car now drives superbly and corners as if it was on rails. The steering wheel has been raised by 50mm to improve access to the car and is fitted with a removable steering wheel.
