Description
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my 1998 Jaguar X308 3. 2 V8 XJ that I am reluctantly selling due to the wife hoodwinking me into having two children. Sadly I no longer have the time to spend constantly peeking out the front window or polishing this beautiful car, leaving me in search of a fellow Jaguar fan to pass on the mantle! Finished in desirable Sapphire Blue with contrasting Oatmeal leather interior. In my opinion is one of the best colourways for these cars. It looks beautiful inside and out and turns heads everywhere it goes, you really feel a sense of occasion in this old Jag. Pre warning - you will be collared at petrol stations by the general public flattering your ego. This car enjoys visiting petrol stations as well as being showered with compliments.
This particular XJ has been in my custodianship since March 2020 whom I purchased from the original owner. He took delivery of the car on the 1st January 1998 from Mann Egerton Jaguar Norwich registered to registration ACC 6. It was ordered with optional mudflaps (rears have gone awol now), cruise control, air filtration, CD autochanger, carpet mats (driver's one a little frayed) and electric folding wing mirrors (these work on occasion but not often). I have the original bill of sale, a letter to the original owner from the supplying dealer thanking Mr Clements for his business and a delivery ETA for the car. 3 keys are present (valet included), all original book packs (green and black wallets), service book and a ring binder with lots of old bills in. It's a complete car with a lovely history trail - even the tool kit is still in the front compartment partially sealed.
A light recommissioning of this car was carried out in early 2021 after the covid MOT extension. My wife and I were due to get married in 2022 so I used this as a perfect excuse to spend loads of money on it as our 'wedding car'.
The mechanicals were addressed first - with a full service inclusive of the gearbox, new brake hoses, bushes replaced, new wing mirror glasses, new indicator lenses, new rear light clusters, 4 Goodyear tyres, steering rack ends, throttle body clean and some welding in areas where these always go. The car has been welded to a great standard and treated properly to prevent any further tin worm underneath.
The car then received some paintwork, rear arches replaced, front and rear bumpers painted, cosmetic repair to the nearside front wing after an argument with a gate post and a deep clean and detail. Although still in great shape is showing signs of slight corrosion coming back through the paintwork on the nearside front wing and lower rear arch (you really have to look for the small blisters though).
Since then I have done little mileage in this car and generally maintained it regardless. Always ran it on E5 premium fuel and changed the oil with Castrol oil. I have tried to love it as best as possible. The base of this car was always great with equally great provenance. It has a well documented service history for a 27 year old car.

The car has recently had a service and MOT carried out. There are a couple of areas to attend too in addition to the above that I have not had time to address.
Airbag light is intermittent, wobbly drivers armrest (fine when down), front passenger door seal to refit, keyfob remotes need re programming after recent engine starting battery replacement, usual headlining sag (It's currently pinned up), the alloy wheels have never been refurbished and are bubbling slightly in the paint, wing mirror glass is slightly wobbly on drivers side (my fault, caught it reversing into the drive!)
Overall this is a great value XJ in lovely condition for it's age, with no mechanical issues or serious dramas associated with it. Boasting a long MOT until 7th June 2026 with a clear HPI report you can be rest assured this is a good one.
B19 XJE registration now retained. This car is now back on R920 YCC. B19 XJE or 'big XJ eight', see what I did there? Anyway, that's also for sale separately if you liked that plate for it.
Please feel free to get in touch with any questions, low ballers will be escorted off the premises, no part exchanges or swaps please, no scammers with elaborate stories or bottles of oil to put in my coolant or brake fluid to squirt up my exhaust please.
Speak soon and thanks again,
Owen. Service history as follows;
