Description
LANCIA
Appia 2nd Series 1956
I have rebuilt the car with a ground up restoration, repairing panels where necessary. I repainted it in Lancia colour ‘Grigo Camping in modern ICI auto colour paint paying particular attention to respecting the Lancia paint finish. A rare Nardi steering wheel is fitted.
I rewired most of the important wiring including the battery to engine to avoid the inevitable power loss when the cable deteriorated . The car is fitted with hazard warning lights. The brakes have been recommissioned and all the pipes have been replaced with Kunifer pipe(as the steel pipes rust and cause an accident). New old stock wheel cylinders have been fitted and the master cylinder has been relined in stainless steel.
I have rebuilt the engine to 814 spec. with 60bhp rather than 42. 5 bhp as standard
with the right cam shafts and a Weber twin choke carburettor and sports air cleaner all in period.
The flywheel has been tuned and lightened by the famous Barry Waterhouse. A rare italian sports exhaust is fitted.
Don Cross the renown Appia specialist helped me strip and rebuild the front suspension.
The car has won the prestigious Lancia Motor Club concours.
I have a number of spare parts including a rebuilt 814 engine (contact me so I can send you the spread sheet) The value of the parts is over £11, 000. I am prepared to sell the car plus all the parts for £20 , 000 or the car separately £ 15, 000 for the car and £11, 000 for the parts.

Photos Matt RichardsonThe Appia is the least well known Lancia with sliding pillar suspension and is the most
affordable. The 2nd Series Appia car was a development of the 1st series car which had a number of teething problems. The 2nd series has a 30mm longer wheelbase, a more useable boot and a redesigned interior.
The Appia was introduced in 1953, the last Lancia with sliding pillar suspension.
The narrow angle V4 engine was designed by Vittorio Jano.
Over 100, 000 cars were produced. There were three series,
including a platform chassis model which various Italian coach builders used to create
some lovely cars. including the Appia Zagato.
I have owned this car since 1970. The car was first registered in South Africa with reg no. CA1296 ZA. I believe it was a show car.
The first owner was a Mrs Schrire who imported the car into the UK in 1962 and it was registered 662 HYK
