Description
Purchased by me after being imported to the UK as a "project" from California. First registered in the UK in 2019. It was almost completely original including an ignition key and it was fully rebuilt in 2018 to its original spec except it now has a Mikuni carb instead of the original twin needle IRZ and it also has a chain tensioner fitted. The fuel tank and front mudguard were new in 2018, imported from Spain, as the originals were beyond repair. The tank has been treated to allow it to safely contain ethanol fuel. It has its original flanged Akront wheel rims with stainless spokes. Paintwork is superb and matches the original colours and style of 1970/ 71. It is road registered and has a V5 in my name and the Michelin knobbly tyres are road legal.
The bike is currently located in Fife, Scotland. Back in the early 1970s the Ossa Pioneer was a highly competitive and desirable enduro bike and was used by several teams in ISDT events around that time. The American magazine Cycle Guide was highly impressed by its performance and described it as "just about the best we have seen". It also won the 1970 Cycle Guide Engineering Award coming out top in a field of 300 bikes that year.
