Description

I’ve owned this VFR750FV since 2014 but, although I still love the bike - the looks, the smooth power and lovely V4 sound, I’m just not using it enough to justify keeping it.

Like my other vehicles, this bike has wanted for nothing. It’s garaged, I do all my own maintenance and servicing, including carb balancing and has all the 'common-sense' mods (nothing cosmetic).

Upfront disclosure, this bike was a Cat C write-off back in 2000. I have an up to date TotalCarCheck report, as well as an original HPI Check report from before I bought the bike back in 2014. I knew this when buying the bike - it had been excellently restored to as new condition with very low miles and then cleared for road use by DVLA. The bike handles perfectly from standstill to massively indecent speeds and I’ve never had any problems taxing or insuring the bike. Currently I have a multi-vehicle policy with Footman James, but have used BikeSure/ Carole Nash in the past and neither have had any problem insuring the bike.

Servicing/ maintenance work done during my ownership includes, but is not limited to:

* Pirelli Road Angel ST dual compound tyres - the current set are only about 1000 miles old, show no signs of squaring off (dual compound) and work really well on this bike in all weathers.
* Replacement front discs and pads to cure pulsing brakes (MOT advisory) in 2022 - only 400 miles covered since then
* Front forks serviced regularly with fresh fork oil
* Front calipers serviced - new seals, bleed nipples etc
* New chain, front and rear chainrings - all still comfortably within wear limits
* Checked valve clearances - all within limits
* Regular yearly oil and filter changes
* Coolant flush every couple of years
* Brake fluid flush every few years
* New suspension bearings
* I recently had the front fairing repaired and resprayed - as well as stone chips, a couple of cracks had appeared around mounting points (a common problem for 20+ yr old bikes). These were properly repaired (not just sprayed over) and repainted by a local specialist (AutoBrite Smart Repairs).

The bike has had the following additions to improve rider comfort/ safety/ ease of use:
* Oxford heated grips with remote controller on left handlebar (see pics)
* Scottoiler - vacuum-driven automatic oiling for the chain, massively extending chain life
* CTEK plug-in battery charging cable (visible just under left side of seat- allows plug-n-play trickle charging to keep battery healthy all year round.
* 2 USB charging points added to inside left fairing - includes an LED display of charging voltage
* Stem-mounted phone holder (for Googlemaps navigation)
* Starcom helmet intercom - this is wired for 2 helmets, and has a 3. 5mm aux cable for MP3 music. It has a volume dial on the handlebars (shown in pics next to Oxford heated grips controller). You can also connect your phone via Bluetooth for auto answering phone calls. It is an old but beautifully engineered solution and people calling me often cannot tell I’m on my bike, even at 70mph.
* Ohlins rear shock with remote reservoir for compression and rebound damping, as well as remote pre-load adjustment - it’s been serviced during my ownership and it’s easy to set up to your requirements
* Braided steel brake hoses for sharper response
* Drop the forks 10mm in the yokes - this is a well-documented mod on VFR forums that sharpens up the steering so the bike now follows your lean angle, rather than trying to steer you out of the turn. I’ve combined this with 10mm yoke extenders which resets the handlebar height to standard.
* Reg/ rec fan added - another common mod that long-term owners do to protect the regulator/ rectifier from overheating is mounting a small electric computer fan on the reg/ rec and wiring it to the ignition.
* Rear tyre hugger / chain guard and front fender extender
* Stainless steel exhaust (standard silencer)
* A GoPro mount stuck to the left rear fairing
* The bike also has a touring screen AND original screen. The touring screen is enough deflect wind over your helmet, making it more comfortable and less noisy at speed. Currently the bike is fitted with the OEM screen but it’s a 15min job to swap between the two.

The not so nice bit - there is a small Y-shaped crack on the right rear fairing, caused by a garage incident earlier this year. You can just about see it in the pics. It’s not structural and will not grow, but I haven’t got around to getting this fixed.

The bike will come with two keys, the original owners manual, single seat cowl and original full Honda toolkit. The sale will also include a Squire ML2L disc lock, a few spares, a Haynes manual and a Honda workshop manual. A Morgan Carbtune carb balancer is available if you wish to do your own maintenance.

I will be transferring the numberplate off this bike, so it will have a standard 1997 registration.

It will have a fresh MOT.
