Pearl White. 50% original paint. Some panels have been repainted. They’re showing age but it’s in keeping with the look of the car.

Nice sun bleach, worn thru paint giving subtle patina.

Complete bottom end rebuild in late 2024 by local classic VW mechanic.
Couple of minor bad points:
NS front wing paint requires attention
NS running board is a bit corroded at the front mount
Front number plate is a bit beaten.
Spare wheel well is a bit beaten.
Front seats seams have come adrift in a couple of places. Re-sew or replace… up to you.
Dash has been cut for a modern radio at some point in its life.
History and paperwork is sparse.
I was always led to believe this was a 62 so I painted a 62 on the side. It’s actually a 63 so I will either remove this completely or re-paint as 63!!!
During the Covid lockdown I sold my 70 Earlybay as it wasn’t being used to buy this beetle as it was a more suitable classic for my needs at the time. Most of the ‘cool’ stuff was already present but the car just didn’t look ‘right’ so I immediately set about getting the stance correct and adding a few of my own touches resulting in what you see here. Ive had a good 4 or 5 years out of it but now is the time to start the search for another Early Bay hence the sale of this one. I’m not in any rush as I am searching for something rather specific, therefore price is pretty firm.
Starts on the button and drives really nicely. Engine and gearbox are swift and it handles well considering the stance. Car is turn key and ready to go as is… or perfect blank canvas for your own thing. I don’t do the VW scene nowadays so this car has never been to ‘on the scene’. It has, however, been used as the cover car for a VW restoration book!

I would consider a swap or a px for a 68-71 type 2 but I am after something quite specific… but try me… I don’t bite!

Rear Boot Rack although I’m open to serious offers for this. It’s an extremely rare Swiss Head Post Masters boot rack and I’ve never seen another one except in a book!
