It's taken long enough to decide to part with my GT86 but due to finally deciding to purchase a new project with my partner the GT86 will need to go to partly fund the new project.
For a very long time i've wanted to own a GT86 and after many years I eventually bought one and it sure has been everything I thought it would be. It’s an absolute pleasure to drive on the country roads, but also covering many, many miles on the motorway.
I bought the GT86 on the 15th of May 2023 with 55, 437 miles on the clock. I had plans to really enjoy this car and to own it for many years however myself and my partner have also wanted a proper campervan as we enjoy the great outdoors and now the time has come to move on from the sports car road trips to campervan road trips.
I've only covered 7, 711 miles in the GT86 but they have been very enjoyable. Myself and my partner have done multiple road trips in it. Within the first few months we went on a 500 mile round trip to Chichester, after that we then did a 900 mile round trip to Fort William and then the biggest trip being 1823 mile round trip to Switzerland. With over a third of the total miles being mainly motorways, I can tell you the GT86 is a fantastic road trip car. It eats up miles without any issues and affordably too, it's surprisingly quite good on fuel! For two people you can also pack so much into it, the boot and back seats have so much space for a week or more away in Europe.
During my ownership I have also done many serviceable items knowing we would be going to Europe in it.
I drove the car for 3, 600 miles before carrying out my own service to make sure it worked as it should, before spending money on it, once I was happy, I carried out the following:
- Engine oil
- Engine oil filter
- Gearbox oil
- Differential oil
- Brake fluid
- Clutch Fluid
- Spark plugs
- Tensioner pulley
- Smooth pulleys x2
- Ribbed pulley
- Ribbed belt
- HEL braided brake lines
- Front and Rear brake calliper seals and pistons
- Front and Rear disc and pads
Total spent - £1, 156
Again, like mentioned, this was a car I planned on keeping for a while and knowing i'd be driving to Europe I tried to not spare any expense. All items have receipts to prove the purchase and even some photos to show the items before fitting.
After another 4, 111 miles I have done the Engine oil and Engine oil filter again in prepartion for the sale but also as it's been just over a year since the last oil change. With the rep of these engines it's better to do the oil more often than not.
Aswell as my services, the GT86 has recieved a service on the following dates:

All dates stamped in service book.
The GT86 is in good overall condition with some age related wear and a few marks here and there from doing over 60, 000 miles, which are all to be expected.
- Some wear on the driver seat bolster
- Some wear on the steering wheel
- Some wear on the gearknob, the red stitching has worn out a little
- Stone chips mainly on the front bumper
- Fading on the tops of the rear seats from sunlight
Last winter I gave the GT86 a really good clean, then brought it into the garage for a detail, starting with a full body clay bar, then a light full body polish and then finishing it off with Sam's Detailing hard wax which really made the GT86 look so good once completed.
There are a few modifications to the GT86 such as:
- Front and Rear disc & pads upgraded to DBA grooved rotors and EBC Bluestuff Pads (originally bought green stuff pads but found they kept fading when coming back down Furkapass in Switzerland, so switched to Bluestuff which are really good!)
- HEL Braided Brake lines
- OEM JDM Dashboard Panel (Imported by TorqueGT last December, matches rest of interior very well)
- Rear lights have been swapped out for aftermarket ones, again last December
