If you're looking for a truly iconic restoration project that will turn heads once finished; look no further. This vehicle is a very early example of a "Fairway Driver".

It's bulletproof Nissan TD27 Engine starts up on the button and its Automatic Gearbox with overdrive ensures you get to where you need to be in comfort.

The cab will require welding underneath to pass an MOT, and ideally a new set of doors as these require attention. The outer sills have been removed to reveal the inner sills. The nearside will need replacement, the offside isn't as bad, but will want patching.

A set of new outer sills are included in the sale; the outer sills are bolt on.

The taxi was registered a Cat C Write off in 2012, this was repaired and passed inspection at the time. It has never affected my insurance.

Ideally, a repaint should be on the cards; but the cab drives spot on. It has covered around 300, 000 miles which is nothing for one of these.

Interior bares the usual wear for an old Taxi.

MOT expired in March 2025 and I have just registered it as "SORN". This is a rare example; in that it is an early Fairway Driver with the early windscreen wiper set up. It has also been fitted with a Turbo in service; which was a TfL mandate at the time for emissions. This makes the cab rather peppy and nippy in comparison to one which has the original setup; in fact, it completely transforms the drive. The Power Steering makes for a comfortable drive, and the taxi really does go well.

It started life out as orange; as did a lot of the "DYH" batch; though I'm not sure why. n. The interior is vinyl and easily wiped clean; another thing which helped drivers of these when in service.

It carries many things which were lost when cabs were decommissioned. The Taxi Light works (for off road use only) and the meter displays but it has been disconnected so it wont actually add up a fare.

The ATF and PAS were recently changed and it had new discs, callpiers, pads and rear shoes and wheel cylinders. It also had brand new hubcaps a couple of years ago (bar one secondhand one which was fitted when one of the new ones was lost).

Included in the sale is a set of Outer Sills.
