Description
Here for sale is my 2003 Chrysler Crossfire 3. 2 V6 manual coupe. I've owned the car for just over 3 years now and in that time have undertaken a lot of work to get the car to where it is today, it's been a reliable daily driver for me having taken me around the UK and into Europe as well, but I now need to move it on as I've got other cars and no longer have the space to keep it.
The car came to me with partial service history. I bought the car in May 2022, did a service myself then (Oil, oil/ air/ pollen filters) at 98k miles, then did a second service in July 2023 at 103k miles (oil and all filters again, plus all 12 spark plugs). It should be due for another oil change this summer but I've only done about 2000 miles since the last one.
It's well equipped with ice cold air con, electrically adjusted and heated leather seats, cruise control, automatic rear spoiler and Traction and Stability control. It's got a bluetooth radio fitted with integrated phone holder (the original is also included)
It's a bit of a laugh to drive as well, with the suspension mods it corners very flat, the exhaust sound is quite fruity and although they're only rated about 215bhp on paper, it's a torquey engine for a car that's about the size of an NC MX5. The 6 speed gearbox helps make the drive engaging as well.
Aside from the regular servicing I've either done, or had a lot of work done to the car to improve the drive, including:
New brake pads and discs all round including EBC Yellowstuff brake pads on the front (OEM spec Mintex pads on the rear)
New brake hoses all round
Bilstein B8 dampers with Eibach lowering springs
H&R front and rear upgraded Anti Roll Bars with polyurethane bushes and Mercedes W124 metal drop links fitted on the rear
New engine and transmission mounts
New propshaft centre bearing
All new steering components, including steering damper, idler bush, drag link and inner/ outer track rod ends
Front wheel bearings
Auxiliary belt and idler pulley
Dropped the rear subframe to replace all of the suspension arms with a new kit with fresh bushes. The exception was the lower arms which were rebuilt with polybushes
Rear subframe re-mounted with polybushes
Aftermarket camber arms fitted on rear for better adjustment
Front lower control arms are polybushed
Headlights polished
Recent all season tyres fitted all round with practically new levels of tread
Engine Cam and Breather covers were taken off, cleaned up and re sealed as they can leak as a common issue
Lower oil sump pan removed, cleaned and re sealed
Diff oil changed
New battery fitted
New Relay Control Module fitted (old one was actually OK and comes with the car as a spare)
New starter motor fitted
Aside from the mechanical work, I've also had both front wings, side skirts and bumpers off to check the condition of the bodywork. Some rust was found in the sills and arches, this has been cut out, welded up with fresh metal and undersealed. Some subtle mods were done to the bodywork as well, to smooth out where the reflectors go in the rear bumper and to remove the plastic side strakes from the front wings.
The bumpers and front wings are in rattle can paint at the moment, it looks OK from a distance but the car also has bad lacquer peel on the rear quarter so the longer term plan was to have the whole thing resprayed in one go to match.
In terms of negative points:
The paintwork as mentioned
The BAS ESP warning light used to come on occasionally, hasn't done it for a while now, but mentioning it in case it reappears!
The interior fan works fine, but on the lower speeds sometimes the fan speed is erratic for a short while
Since changing the starter motor recently there is a bit of a vibration occasionally, this might be from the starter touching on one of the engine bay heat shields
Headlining has dropped so will need recovering before long
I've done long journeys in this car up north, down south, to the east coast and over to the Nurburgring in Germany and I wouldn't hesitate to take it off anywhere tomorrow. The one time it gave me trouble was when the starter motor started to fail but that's been replaced.
It could be a really great looking car with a bit of paint, or it could be an alternative track car, the basic mods are there.
I'll do test drives unless I see proof of insurance. Message me with any questions, I'm open to sensible offers (might consider a trade/ px for a 600cc+ bike) and thanks for looking :)
