1970 Chesil Porsche 356 Speedster Replica
This is a faithful tribute to the iconic Porsche 356 Speedster created by the renowned Chesil Motor Company, and benefiting from significant recent recommissioning maintenance. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 1. 6-litre air-cooled flat-four, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. This Chesil 356 Speedster started life as a Volkswagen Beetle, which was first registered in February 1970. The odometer indicates 198 miles since its build. This will rise slightly as still in weekend use.
The Chesil Motor Company is well regarded for creating some of the most faithful and well-built Porsche 356 Speedster replicas in the UK. This example is finished in a stylish shade of gunmetal grey metallic with a black soft-top roof, over a black leather-trimmed interior, featuring a body-coloured lower dashboard and chrome trim highlights. Equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a wooden gear knob, an Empi shifter, door card storage pockets, retro-style gauges, and a passenger-side dashboard grab handle. This example benefits from a factory-fitted lower floor pan that allows more room in the car for taller drivers. The car is accompanied by an extensive history file including a large collection of receipts, detailed build documentation, and photographs from the Chesil factory.
Notable maintenance completed during the rebuild includes a full body respray, the tracking and camber being professionally aligned, all new brakes and suspension components fitted, an all-new interior installed, a new soft-top roof fitted, the bumper over-riders installed, and the engine being rebuilt.
