Description

OVERVIEW:
Lovely top of the range SE-L model. The best engine in the best spec - no hybrid technology to worry about!

The car is in great condition and has been pampered by me for just over 2 years of ownership:
- Strong & quiet engine
- Smooth gearbox
- No expense spared
- Recently replaced air suspension and other components
- Recent tyres all round

… so years of smooth motoring ahead!

HISTORY:
This car had only 3 owners prior to me, but only 2 were private owners:
- Owner 1 - from Calne, servicing on the dot at Lexus Swindon.
- Owner 2 - was a car dealership in Wokingham, who only added a few hundred miles onto the car. Sold it to Owner 3.
- Owner 3 - from Reading, my neighbour who cherished this car in full view of my house!

My neighbour (Owner 3) lives opposite me. I'd always seen this car gliding serenely around our neighbourhood and thought it looked amazing. We had another Lexus RX at the time, so I knew how comfortable and reliable they were to drive and own.

However, unlike my other RX, this car is the top of the range SE-L version which comes with all bells and whistles so, when he said he was buying another car, I offered to buy it from him as I needed another big car to carry my 3 children and all their school kit and large musical instruments!

Now, unfortunately, this car is being sold as I now have a car through work (I've gone electric). I'm pretty gutted as I poured a lot of love into this car and want it to go to someone who will really enjoy and take care of her - hence advertising on Car & Classic.

There is comprehensive service history, though my neighbour mislaid a load of his invoices. I didn't worry as I knew he cherished this car and our local garage verified MOTs, repairs and servicing. Their contact details are on some of the invoices so the next owner can also request details if they want peace of mind. Other than him, the history is all there.

There was a fair amount to do to the car when I bought it, but I got everything sorted out, starting with a 'full' comprehensive service to Christen its new ownership. The biggest issue it had was the inevitable failure of an air-suspension strut (off side rear) and I know that the previous owner hadn't wanted to tackle it, which was the impetus for buying a new car and selling this one to me... but I love a project. I have sorted out everything that needed sorting, which I will detail below for peace of mind.

----------
These are now becoming classics in their own right and you could own a good and reliable example.

Under my ownership, I've had absolutely everything done to this car when needed. I fix things as soon as I or my garage notices something as it is safer and (let's be honest) it's a nicer driving experience all round.

The new air-suspension is still fresh, strong and faultless. It will raise and lower with button selection, or do so automatically depending on speed (it auto-lowers at higher speeds for aerodynamics and more stability at motorway speeds - nice feature). There are some great YouTube vids by an ex-Lexus master technician that I can send the new owner which explains how this specific 3. 5 litre engine is the best, most durable and reliable engine that Toyota/ Lexus have made and still used in future versions of the RX and other model ranges like the LS and GS.

This is a truly lovely car to spend time in. Good driving position, comfortable on the motorway or in town. Smooth and serene engine & gearbox. Fantastic Mark Levinson sound system working perfectly. Rear DVD setup was handy when I first bought the car (and I also bought 3 sets of infra-red headsets & remote controller!) is now redundant as the children have all got mobile phones and lost interest - hopefully you'll get some use out of them!

The bodywork is pretty good for the age - no car prang damage or scuffed corners. Both I and the previous owner kept the car on our driveways, out of trouble overnight.

The sunroof is good, the aircon is cold, the original carpets/ mats are in pretty good condition, the rear seats slide & recline (nice touch) and there's plenty of storage, cup holders and a pretty big boot, which still has its tonneau cover.

This is a fair price for a car that you can be sure won't let you down - can you be sure that a 'cheaper' car with the air suspension won't be about to let you down? I'm sad to let her go, but needs must with the new electric car (I almost feel sick saying that - what am I doing?!). I'd love a serious buyer who is going to carry on the good work (though I'm hoping you won't need to do anything for a while other than keeping her clean and shiny!). Serious buyers only please... I need very little reason to keep her a bit longer but I'll be fair on price.

Thank you for taking a look and do give me a call if there's anything else you want to know.
