Description
1959 Tresette. I call it my patina bike. It was purchased out of Italy as a project that I could do easily after surgery - the whole idea was to not produce a “Promenade Percy” but a genuine as found machine.
I stripped the bike comprehensively rebuilding the engine with the best of three motors plus a host of new parts I lost count of. Naturally seals and bearings are all new and it has a fully reconditioned oil pump. Most parts direct from Italy and the rebuild was the prime source for my 16 page workshop missive on these bikes available from me free of charge via Morini Riders Club.
I have owned Morini for 50 years and a former Chairman of Morini riders club as well as an officer of the club. Regularly ride my own bike in Giro events... they are the BEST Italian small machines (I also own 175 Aermacchi and Mondial but the Morinis top the lot!)
It has new Mitas tires/ tubes the fuel tank has been cleaned and sealed, new cables and battery fitted. What has not gone into this project is almost beyond belief probably something like £2, 500 but it has been a very enjoyable exercise
I am putting it up for sale needing wiring (but there is a new loom with it) , but I have ridden it about 10 miles. Starts easy and it seems to go fine with a good clutch and gearbox. It will undoubtedly benefit for more miles
I really do not want to see this restored (The great Morini guru Benjy Straw described it as fantastic & original not for restoration) and I wholeheartedly agreeFantastic original patina
