1966 Chevrolet Corvette C2 Sting Ray 327 Convertible / family-owned for 30 years
When William “Bill” Mitchell rose to become General Motors' chief designer in the early 1960s, no one in his circle could have predicted that he would create one of the most exciting and iconic sports cars ever produced in America: the Chevrolet Corvette C2 Sting Ray.
The short production period between 1963 and 1967 was enough to make the Corvette C2 the dream car of many petrolheads: An aggressive body design, powerful V8 engines and impressive driving characteristics ensured that the C2 not only looked “going like hell just sitting still” but could also compete in motorsports with the European racetrack leaders of its time, such as Porsche, Jaguar and others.
Our C2 convertible, offered on behalf of our customer, with its black interior including soft top, is one of only 3, 366 examples that left the factory in St. Louis in 1966 in “Rally Red” (color code 974).
According to the body trim plate, production of this C2 Convertible began on May 31, 1966. In this model year, all Corvettes were already offered with disc brakes all around. Equipped with a 327 cui V8 engine (300 SAE hp) in combination with the 2-stage Powerglide automatic transmission, this C2 convertible scores with plenty of relaxed power!
For almost 30 years now, our C2 Cabriolet has been owned by the same family and has always been properly maintained and cared for, which is why its overall condition can be described as very good. The 5-digit speedometer shows 05, 519 miles, but the actual mileage is likely to be 105, 519 miles.
The C2 Cabriolet currently has Austrian registration, as it moved with the family from Germany to Austria a few years ago.
