Description
1979 Ducati 900 SS
Registration no. DUT 136T
Frame no. 088626
Engine no. 088838
This beautifully presented genuine UK supplied Ducati 900 SS was purchased new from Apple Motorcycles of Hinckley in May 1979 by the first owner and had only covered only 7, 189 miles from new (sales invoice on file) when the first owner sold it. From new the Ducati was ridden for the next halt a dozen years before being placed in storage in 1986. The bike was first registered 21st May 1979.
Recommissioning and restoration works commenced in 2013 when the tank and other parts were repainted by The Paint Studio of Nottingham, while at the same time the frame was repainted and fitted with new swinging-arm bearings. In 2016 the engine was stripped, the cases cleaned, and the engine rebuilt and recommissioned by Trev Milner (Milmoto) of Nottinghamshire.
The bike was then sold by Bonhams and Lusso Veloce serviced and recommissioned then came into my possession as the second owner early in 2023. The bike has only covered an additional 250 miles mainly to Classic bike events during my possession and the total mileage is now 7438. There is a history file which has the original sales invoice some early MOT certification, paperwork, original numberplate as well as the Bonhams Sales Catalogue listing the bike.
The condition both cosmetical and mechanically is excellent and the bike starts easily and with the 40mm Dellorto Carbs and Conte Exhausts has a beautiful distinct soundtrack. This very low mileage bike would be a great addition to any classic collection and also benefits from being fully serviced, ready to ride. It’s officially classified as an historic vehicle and therefore exempt from VED and MOT testing. With the sale comes a spare new pair of genuine exhaust downpipes. The bike is located in Shropshire.
