I've had this car over 5 years now and in that time it has been faultless, only selling for a newer 1 series for daily use. Overall it's a genuinely solid car that i'd prefer to keep, but i haven't got anywhere to put it. Great little 90s RWD hatchback to drive.
Someone who wants a starter classic or an easy car to work on would probably really enjoy owning this quirky little car. I get attention from people everytime I go out in it, and if it could go to someone who has the time to fix the minor little bits, I think it'll last a very long time without needing any major work.
59k miles, 4 owners, part service history, fairly clean MOT history (no corrosion or anything serious), lightly modified.
See below for the full info good and bad:- 4 owners for new. First owner kept the car garaged and put very few miles on. I bought it on 28k miles and have used it as my daily driver since June 2020. Not bad performance for an old car with about 135hp.
- Part service history and have serviced it myself.
- Bilstein b12 Pro suspension kit. Old suspension was past its best so spent about £1000 replacing the suspension. Rides much better now, more like the M-sport cars.
- aftermarket exhaust. There is an exhaust blow i haven't got to which means its a bit louder than it should be at the moment.
- aftermarket wheels to replace the old steel wheels.
- MOT history speaks for itself, very clean car underneath.
- front discs and pads less than 6 months old
- comes with an absolute mountain of paperwork
Few bad points
- exhaust blow and larger exhaust tip has melted the bumper slightly
- headlining really needs doing
- drivers side window switch has come away but is still operational
- bodywork in OK condition. scuffs and marks picked up over its 30 year life, and a bit of surface rust around the radio arial.
- reverse light and parking sensors not working. Not an MOT fail so haven't looked into it but assume its a switch in the gearbox.
