This 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL 350 (R230) is finished in Obsidian Black with matching black and grey leather and features the desirable Panoramic Glass Roof.
It has covered 107, 800 miles and comes with a complete service history from new (2003), recorded in the original stamped booklet and supported by extensive invoices.
Mechanically excellent and kept in perfect working order throughout, this SL has just received a major service including replacement of all 12 spark plugs, and recently fitted brand-new rear tyres. The folding hard-top operates smoothly and silently with no leaks, and every electrical feature functions correctly — memory seats, mirrors, climate control, roof and infotainment system.
The car rides on factory-fit 18-inch AMG alloy wheels with Falken 255/ 40 R18 fronts (4–5 mm tread) and new 285/ 35 R18 rears.
It has a long MOT valid until 21 November 2026, with no advisories other than the tyres, which have since been replaced.
Cosmetically the car presents superbly: deep, glossy paintwork, excellent trim and interior, and only a small patch of minor surface bubbling on the passenger side, pictured for transparency. The underside and arches are clean and solid.
Specification highlights include the Bose Premium Sound System, working 6-disc CD changer, and a professionally installed CarPlay/ Android Auto head unit (£700) designed to mimic the original COMAND style — the original unit is included with the sale.
All original books, manuals, service booklet and toolkit are present. The car is owned outright, HPI-clear, and ready to drive away. I spent months searching for the right SL 350 — low ownership, full history, everything working — and this was the one.
It’s had just three owners from new, the first two from the same family (father-in-law and son-in-law), and it shows in how it drives and feels.
Within a month of buying it, I confidently drove it from Liverpool to Southern Ireland, and it never missed a beat. It’s a car you can simply get in and enjoy, which is rare for these now.
The panoramic glass roof floods the cabin with light and makes it feel far more modern than its age suggests. The Bose audio, V6 refinement, and the solid feel of the folding hard-top make every journey a pleasure — whether it’s a weekend cruise or just the daily drive to the gym.
I’m reluctantly selling only because I’d like to experience a Porsche Cayman, but I’m not in any rush. I genuinely enjoy using this SL daily for short runs and errands, so the mileage may increase slightly but only marginally.
It will take me a while to find the right Cayman, and until then this car will continue to be cared for and used as intended.
