Description
The vehicle's equipment is in its original condition. All (restoration) works carried out in the past were undertaken with a view to preserving this.
Mechanically the car is in top condition; cosmetically no modifications have been made to preserve the current state as much as possible.
The chassis has no rust, and has not been treated against rust in order to keep as much visual inspection of the condition as possible. The bodywork could use some attention, but it does not need it.
The engine block and gearbox are still original.
Mechanically, the following changes were made to the car:
- The Zenith/ Stromberg carburettors were replaced with an Edelbrock 1404 carburettor (the original intake manifold with the carburettors is included with the sale);
- The engine was initially a detoxed-engine; this system was removed and the engine was sealed;
- The Facet fuel pump was replaced with an Edelbrock petrol pump (the Facet pump is included with the sale);
- The original ignition was replaced with an electronic ignition (123-ignition), and set up for the 3. 5 V8;
- The fuel filter was replaced with a Malpassi filter with pressure measurement (the original fuel filter is included with the sale);
In addition, over the past 2 years the following work has been carried out:
- Replacement of all oils and fluids every 5, 000 km
- The diff-lock (vacuum actuator) was replaced;
- For the mechanical regulation of the interior heating, it was replaced with a digital control (Nakatanenga), which uses the original controls;
- The suspension (shock absorbers and springs) was replaced at both front and rear
- The exhaust was renewed from the Y-pipe (the exhaust manifolds, downpipes and the Y-pipe are still original. (The original front silencer is included))
- The steering box was refurbished
The roof rack is not included in the sale.
The Land Rover was registered in Switzerland in November 1983 and thus belongs to the early Stage Two examples delivered on the European mainland. The Swiss provenance explains why the underside of the vehicle has remained very well preserved. From the Netherlands it arrived in Belgium in 2018, where it received an update from the previous owner with knowledge and care. Both the engine block and the gearbox are still original and in fine condition. It shifts with no play.
The current tyres are Cooper STT 235/ 85/ 16 and have 2, 500 km. I also have five Dunlop 7. 5 R16 Sandgrip tyres (around 5, 000 km) that will be included.
Since January 2024 it has been in my possession; I am selling it because I have started a new project. It has stood since summer in a climate-controlled classic car hotel. It was inspected on 8 January 2026 and is fully roadworthy.
