Description
This 1968 Valiant Barracuda is a well-sorted, running and driving classic that has benefited from significant mechanical upgrades and structural reinforcement during long-term ownership of 11 years. Paperwork in order, it presents as a usable and enjoyable muscle car with strong fundamentals already addressed.
Approximately four years ago, the drivetrain, suspension and braking systems were comprehensively refurbished and upgraded. The 318 Magnum 5. 2L V8 is fitted with a 4-barrel Edelbrock 600cfm carburetor, Street Dominator intake, headers and electronic ignition. Cooling is handled by a Champion aluminum radiator.
Power is delivered through the heavy-duty A999 transmission, a strengthened version of the 904 small-block gearbox featuring improved ratios and a hydraulic lock-up torque converter. The subframe has been reinforced to properly support the Magnum powerplant, and the car runs disc brakes on all four corners.
The vehicle starts, runs and drives well. Suspension components and braking systems were redone during the refurbishment, and the frame was repaired and strengthened where required. A brand-new front windscreen is included with the sale.
Cosmetically, the car presents honestly. It is not a recent body restoration, but it is a solid, usable example that shows well and can be enjoyed as-is. The body has not been rebuilt or heavily modified, and it reflects the character of a classic that has been mechanically prioritized and properly maintained.
Minor items to address include:
Small exhaust leak
Non-functioning fuel gauge
Slight squeak from the front right brake
These are minor finishing items rather than structural or major mechanical concerns.
This is an ideal opportunity for a buyer looking for a strong-running classic muscle car with the expensive mechanical work already completed, rather than a shell requiring a full rebuild.
