Description
Selling on behalf of a friend whose dad can no longer ride . I believe it’s a 1937 Model 36 Delux New Imp with a Bentley & Draper sprung frame . There’s lots of literature with the bike including lots of stuff from from the New Imp Owners Club
The bike has been in storage for 30 + years at least , and i've been asked to resurrect it to a riding standard and assess it with the aim of selling it .
The bike is in great shape , excellent mechanical condition with no detectable wear in the forks or the sprung frame . It has excellent compression and starts easily , I’ve only ridden it on short 5-10 mile trips and it handles very nicely . It's quite comfortable - even on the pot-holed roads around here ! , it goes well for a 250 - feels more like a 350
I think the tank , mudguards and headlight were restored about 30 years ago ( I'm guessing ? ) and have since mellowed back to a similar patina as the rest of the bike . The dynamo charges well but the ammeter is US , as is the pop-out oil pressure indicator , although oil pressure is very good and the motor is very oil-tight . There’s lots of nice original touches to the bike which has made it a joy to play around with . There’s no rounded off nuts and bolts or stripped threads , it’s probably never been apart in it’s life ???
If it was mine - i'd probably treat it to new rims and silencers and silencer brackets but they're perfectly ok if you wanted to keep the bike in "oily rag " condition .
So , to sum-up :- a very , very easy restoration of an extremely rare and interesting machine that's in very good mechanical condition that's also very practical .
