Description
1982 W123 200 (2. 0 M102 Engine)
A great example of a classic Merc, this car has covered just over 110k miles. It is classed as a historic vehicle, so is tax and MOT exempt, as well as ULEZ exempt.
In my ownership, the car has had:
Engine rebuild (There was some blow by, no failures) including:
Chain and Guides
Head Gasket and bolts
Front Main Seal
Rod Bearings
Piston Rings
New P/ S and Fan Belt
New Water Pump
New clutch
Carb rebuild
Intake and exhaust manifold gaskets replaced, with copper nuts on exhaust
Differential Oil service
Gearbox Oil service
Both front sills welded
Cobra Lowering Springs
Lower Engine Mount replaced
Distributor Cap and Leads
Spark Plugs
Brakes serviced all around
Most of this work was done around 110k.
The underside of this car is very clean, no rust in the floor section. There are rust spots around the car, such as in the rain scuttle and in the front section by the headlight (as pictured)
Boot floor will need welding at some point, although it is still very much usable.
The car had some damage in 2019 to the front drivers side wing area. One of the previous owners replaced the wing, and had the offside section in front of the strut tower rebuilt. The strut tower itself was not damaged or altered. I have photos from when the work was being done.
The car drives impeccably, and is very comfortable. Gear changes are easy, the clutch feels great and there are no suspension knocks or bangs.
Ideally the car will sell to someone who appreciates old cars require more time and care to be kept up than modern vehicles.
Reason for sale is that I just don't use it enough, and can't justify keeping it when it takes up driveway space. In no rush to sell. Happy to answer any questions, please shoot me a message. The car has lots of service history, including the original Mercedes booklet that came with it when originally sold.
