Description
The 560 SL was the most powerful variant produced during the R107’s eighteen-year run. According to the original Mercedes-Benz production plate affixed to the car, this example was built in May 1989 — the last car of the line left the factory in early August 1989. It is among the last 560 SLs produced.
The car is finished in Pearl Gray (color code 122) with gray leather upholstery and a black soft top. The paintwork is entirely original — the car has never had bodywork repairs or repainting of any kind. The detachable hard top is included. Condition is very good, consistent with the recorded mileage and history.
The 5, 547 cc V8 produces 231 PS (170 kW). Equipment includes a 4-speed automatic gearbox, gray leather upholstery, walnut burl wood trim, air conditioning, ABS, driver’s airbag, electric windows, cruise control, heated seats, heat-insulating glass, central locking, power steering, outside temperature display, and illuminated vanity mirrors. The alloy wheels are in the period “Gullideckel” design. The hard top has a heated rear window. As a US-specification car, it is also fitted with a third brake light.
A new set of tyres and a new battery have recently been fitted. The car is sold with its original plastic pouch containing all manufacturer’s booklets and a full service history.
Note on photographs: the Connecticut plates shown are the original American plates retained as a memento. The car currently carries French plates. The car was purchased new in 1989 at Gulf Stream Motors, the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Palm Beach, Florida — the original dealer sticker remains on the car. The first owner kept it from 1989 until 2015, when I acquired it directly from him while residing in Connecticut. The car has had two private owners in its entire lifetime, with a clear and uninterrupted history from new.
This was not a car purchased for import and resale. It has been my personal vehicle since 2015. When we relocated to France, the car was imported end of 2020 and formally homologated by a classic car specialist in South West France in 2021.
