Description
A remarkably preserved example of Jaguar's celebrated X308 saloon — just 47, 440 miles from new, full service history, and presented in the timeless combination of Sapphire Blue over Oatmeal leather.
The Jaguar XJ8 4. 0 V8 represents the pinnacle of traditional British luxury motoring. Powered by Jaguar's silken 290bhp AJ-V8 engine paired with a five-speed automatic gearbox, this is a motorcar that was designed to cover ground with effortless grace — and after nearly three decades, it does so as convincingly as the day it left the Coventry production line.
This particular example has led a cossetted life in the hands of just two careful owners, accumulating only 47, 440 miles from new. The service history documents a life of meticulous maintenance, and significant recent investment has ensured the car is ready to be enjoyed immediately by its next custodian.
Finished in deep Sapphire Blue metallic — a colour that flatters the X308's elegant lines beautifully — with a sumptuous Oatmeal leather interior that remains in excellent order throughout. The walnut veneers are rich and unmarked, the leather supple and free from wear, and the new headliner presents as it should. The bodywork is entirely free from rust and benefits from a comprehensive wax underseal — a testament to the care this car has received.
Comprehensive recent expenditure includes four new tyres, new brake discs, pads and rubber hoses, a new throttle body, new battery, new passenger seatbelt, and a recent full service. The MOT runs to October 2026. This is not a car that has been left to deteriorate — it has been maintained regardless of its modest mileage.
Offered with the desirable private registration plate S2 XJB included in the sale price. With its classic Jaguar presence, genuine low-mileage provenance, and comprehensive recent refurbishment, this XJ8 represents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a genuinely excellent X308 — a model now firmly recognised as an emerging modern classic. I’ve owned this car for several years and genuinely enjoyed every mile. It’s one of those cars that just gets better the more time you spend with it.
The 4. 0 V8 is the standout. It’s remarkably smooth — almost unnervingly so at low speed, where it just wafts along barely above idle with no vibration, no harshness, nothing. On a motorway it’s in its absolute element — settled, quiet, completely unruffled. You arrive after a long drive feeling less tired than when you set off, which I think says everything about what Jaguar got right with this generation. There’s proper pace there too when you ask for it, but it’s never uncouth. It just delivers.
The condition speaks for itself. The Sapphire Blue is deep and striking in any light, and yes, it does turn heads — I’ve had more unsolicited compliments on this car than anything else I’ve owned. Inside, the oatmeal leather and walnut are exactly as you’d hope — no wear, no fade, no sagging headliner (it’s been replaced). It presents exceptionally well for a car of any age, let alone one approaching thirty.
I’ve spent properly on maintenance because the car deserved it. New tyres, new discs, pads and brake hoses, new throttle body, new battery, new seatbelt, wax undersealed, recently serviced. There is no rust anywhere. It’s MOT’d to October 2026. Nothing needs doing — it’s ready to use.
47, 440 miles, full service history, two owners. The private plate S2 XJB is included. Good X308s at this level are genuinely thin on the ground now. This is one of them.
