Description
MGB Roadster (with overdrive - Condition 2-3). Former Keepers = 8. Currently showing 26, 400 miles (although it’s been ‘round the clock’). MOT to March 2027.
I bought the car in July 2024. I had the car inspected by the MGOC - all observations and recommended actions (replacements) were carried out. I have spent the time since then putting the finishing touched to the car and I now consider it to be “good to go”.
Here are the details:
1978 MGB Roadster in Old English White with chrome bumper conversion (and lowered suspension), overdrive. Leather seats. Mota-Lita steering wheel. Stainless steel exhaust. Vinyl hood, tonneau cover, rear wind break. Stainless steel luggage rack. Battery isolator fitted. Dashboard refurbished (USB fitted). Undersealed. Garaged, driven regularly but only 1, 400 miles in last 18 months. Battery kept on trickle charge.
Major overhaul and bare metal respray in 2020. Reconditioned (unleaded) engine fitted 24, 000 miles ago.
Just some of the parts replaced/ fitted in the last 1, 300 miles:
New, chrome wire wheels (5 off) and tyres (175/ 70/ 14). Front wheel bearing kit. Brake disc kit. Stub axles and trunnions. Pedestal banjo axle. Rear brake parts. Cylinder head (large valve). Starter motor.
Head and bottom end gasket sets. Sports coil. Alternator. Prop shaft. Poly bush set. Engine mounts. K&N oil breather. Steering gaiter set. Electronic ignition (Pertronix). Gearbox bushes. Reverse and overdrive switch. Gear lever nylon bush. Steering column U/ J. Petrol tank. Refurbished carbs - HS4 SU. Fuel pump. Voltage stabiliser (for fuel gauge). Fuel tank sender kit. Choke cable. Throttle cable.
Anti-freeze (Forlife). Clutch kit. Clutch slave cylinder. Brake and clutch fluid (DOT 4).
Windscreen wash system. Oil and filter change (sump removed, cleaned, refitted, oil cooler flushed). Engine bay flexible fuel lines.
There is a huge history file with receipts dating back over 30 years! The car starts and drives very well, the engine pulls strongly with good oil pressure (60psi).
My original intention was to keep the car and enjoy driving and maintaining it but I now realise that it’s the ‘fettling’ that I enjoy, so I’m looking to sell the MG to fund my next restoration/ recommissioning project!Any inspection or questions welcome. More photos available on request.
I am open to sensible offers.
