Description
For sale is my 1980 MGB Roadster in Cumberland Green. Very original with its deckchair orange seats still in good condition. Dashboard and interior are very good with working ‘Sharp’ radio cassette player. Spot lamps have been professionally fitted with the switch discreetly hidden so as to keep an authentic look to the interior. It has a working overdrive in 3rd & 4th gear and a lovely leather trimmed ‘Mota - Lita’ steering wheel.
The vehicle is garaged and only used in fair weather. It presents as a rust free example. The paintwork is fair/ good showing some minor marks and stone chips to the bonnet which have been previously touched up (as pictured).
Running with immaculate ‘Mini Lite’ wheels with an original unused ‘Rostyle’ spare in the boot.
The vehicle comes with half and full tonneau however these may be restricted by a fitted rollbar (I’ve never tried to fit them). The hood is in reasonable condition with two small tears (as pictured).
I’ve had the following work done :
New fuel tank and lines. Two newly refurbished carburettors fitted. New clutch master cylinder.
Running very nicely and set up for the summer.
Please note that the vehicle generally presents and drives well however the vehicle is leaking some oil from the gearbox/ engine however it isn’t excessive and I’ve chosen to just keep it topped up.
I’ve pitched the price to reflect the cost that may be involved should the new owner choose to chase these leaks so I would appreciate genuine enquiries based on this information.
Happy to answer any other questions you may have. I purchased the vehicle in May 2020 having owned a Midget in my younger years. I always hankered for the B but couldn’t afford one back in the day. The vehicle stood out in the online advert and I wasn’t disappointed when I saw it in the flesh.
PEX430W has a full owner provenance from first registration in September 1980 being purchased by a gentleman in Diss, Norfolk. Sold in 1982 to the next owner in Mattishall, Norfolk who kept it until 2003 when it was sold again to an owner in Scole, Norfolk. Two further owners in Ipswich and Cambridge bring the vehicle up to date. A total of six owners over a 46 year history and a documented 79300 mileage.
I’ve driven less than 2000 miles in the vehicle since purchasing it over six years ago. This tells you all you need to know about why I’ve decided to sell it. It’s just not getting used as it should.
So there you are…a very honest, lovely MGB Roadster with honest British Leyland leaks. Over to you to love it and use it just as it is or take it on to the next level.
