Italian Import UK registered as Light Utility 4x4 Historical vehicle tax and mot exempt
This is a classic little mighty off road vehicle with many unique and unusual features; above all the REAR AXLE STEERING which can be engaged at low speed when the low gears are in use, please also note the chassis that extend to form the whole body, obviously 4 WHEEL DRIVE and it has an ultra low rock crawling transfer box where the 4th low is shorter than the 1st normal, Front and Rear DIFF LOCKERS , no speedo just an hr counter.
This is a very solid running and driving restoration/ renovation project, I have carried out all basics repairs, maintenance and some restoration works to return to original and test drive conditions , still requires some work like brakes overhaul, electrics check some welding to driver side floor, etc. There is one shot u-joint to be replaced and play in the steering due to worn track rods ends etc
This is the second Yeti I own and you can see the first one I restored years back in action on Youtube , now sold to a Belgian collector. Just type samas yeti 903 there is just one video easy to find.
The Yeti was on the Italian market for several years in the early mid seventies and at some point it was the cheaper brand new off road vehicle available to buy in Italy.
It was fitted with the best components from the Italian manufacturers, Fiat 127 engine, Lancia gearbox, Alfa romeo differentials, Fiat brakes, and just transfer box and rear steering box were cast by Samas
The Samas factory is still open , they were so kind to email to me copy of the original sale invoice; matching numbers ! original engine !
This example is very solid an excellent base for an easy restoration/ renovation, it is also 98% complete; just hood frame and rear seat are missing and both pretty easy to make. I have the doors.
The Samas Yeti 903 was the improved version born from the Delta Yeti 850 from the late sixties. Total production numbers for both Samas and Delta examples are less than 200 ever produced and sold.
