Description
2004 BMW 320Ci E46 Convertible. Petrol. 5 speed Manual.
1 owner. 64K mi. New MOT & Oil Service. Unmarked Body. Time Capsule.
One lady owner from new. This car has been a joy in my life since 2004. It has been strictly maintained with every service completed promptly as soon as the dashboard indicators signalled the need - and it still is! Just this past month it received a full oil service, an ABS wheel sensor, brake pad, windscreen & license plate replacements (more than £500 spent in total) just in order to sustain its high-level condition prior to sale.
A post oil change inspection of the undercarriage found it to be in astonishingly good condition with only minor, normal surface rust and no sign of corrosion or oil leaks. See photo gallery.
The car’s bodywork and wheels are completely unmarked. Its paintwork, Silbergrau Met (silver/ grey) was specifically chosen by BMW as its Flagship colour for the launch of the 2004-2006 E46 facelift models over the brightly-reflective Titanium with good reason. Due to its deeper multi-dimensional undertones Silbergrau has the unique ability to capture the light thus accentuating the model’s updated sculptural contours and transforming the colour from crisp mid-grey in full sun to a shadowy dark hue at dusk – sometimes reflecting a subtle hint of blue. It is incredible how this specific colour choice elevated the car’s status to the high-end luxury level at the time – and still does today.
Careful garaging over winter has preserved the car and helped it maintain a remarkably ageless appearance.
The car is presented “as factory standard” without modification or poor repairs nor has it ever been aggressively driven. More so, it still has only a remarkably low 64, 600 miles on its clock. The premium condition of this car is a rarity in today’s market that doesn’t just happen by accident.
Maintaining it over the years to this turn-key standard comes at a cost that needs to be considered when comparing it to other cheaper, higher mileage or neglected E46’s that pass hands regularly on the market. The price reflects the work already done, not the work you’ll have to do.
This car comes with a clean MOT till April ’27. The 2 minor advisories: worn brake pads and a stained number plate have both been replaced. Simply put this is a beautifully preserved 22-year-old vehicle with excellent MOT history and an unbroken, fully documented BM maintenance paper-trail dating back to its first Inspection in 2006.
The car features the highly sought-after 5 speed manual transmission mated to the smooth 2. 2 litre straight-six engine. The design of this fine example of a 3 Series E46 ’04 face-lift convertible is widely regarded by bmw enthusiasts to be the perfect mechanical “sweet spot” of an old school naturally aspirated engine paired with just enough modern convenience and is singled out as the one to aim at for maximum reliability. The two in tandem result in an engaging drive that is still as smooth as the day it was driven home from the showroom.
Maintenance info is monitored by the factory fitted Service Interval Indicator (SII) on the dashboard which tracks, calculates and manages the service intervals. All servicing on this car has been carried out in strict accordance with the red-light warnings of the SII.
As an SE trim model riding on a standard factory suspension, the car delivers a beautifully smooth, compliant, and refined driving experience.
It avoids the harsh, bumpy ride of the stiffer M Sport setups, making it the ultimate comfortable modern classic for weekend touring or daily driving.
Externally the sharp contrast of the refurbished black canvas roof set against the silver/ grey metallic paintwork combine to emphasize the car’s timeless clean lines and styling.
The premium black leather seating is still in great shape with minimum age-appropriate wear that further reinforces its striking appearance. The multi-functional leather steering wheel, gear shift and dashboard show very little sign of wear or fading. The dashboard is equipped with a Business CD/ radio player. The fitted carpets are still in like new condition and come with a set of 4 protective mats
This car is one worth travelling for and we strongly recommend an in-person viewing. Multiple train stations are readily accessible within the Canterbury/ Sandwich/ Dover triangle. Should that not be practical we would welcome a professional inspection (AA, RAC or independent BMW garage specialist). We feel sure that will be enough to instil confidence in the mind of the most meticulous buyer.
This is a rare opportunity. The chance of finding another single ownership, low mileage, preservation-grade example of such a rapidly appreciating modern classic becomes harder each year. The chance of finding another one showcasing this high-end look in this classic colour combination, ready to roll is more like finding a needle in a haystack.
