A 1978 Brazilian‑import VW Transporter, offering the rare combination of rear barn doors and bay‑window styling. These Brazilian models are genuinely unusual on UK roads — I’ve yet to come across another one in person.
Imported in 2022, with all taxes, import duties and UK registration fully completed. It was then sold to the current keeper in 2023, so the V5C correctly shows just one former keeper.
Originally bought as a project with the intention of converting it into a full camper, but unfortunately ill health has meant the work couldn’t be completed. It has been kept in a garage throughout.
The bus is being sold as a non‑runner, simply because the ignition work was started but never finished. It was running when I collected it, so the issue is related to the incomplete ignition job rather than a major mechanical fault. Therefore, it will need to be transported on a trailer.
The odometer shows 15, 769 miles, but this cannot be confirmed. There is only limited Brazilian paperwork with the vehicle, so the recorded mileage should be treated as unverified.
Before leaving Brazil, the engine underwent substantial overhaul work, which is documented. It ran exceptionally well prior to being placed into storage.
The bodywork is good for its age, with some areas of surface corrosion visible in the photos. A thorough clean and tidy‑up would improve its appearance significantly.
The interior is very sparse and will need recommissioning, whether you plan to use it as a bus, a van, or convert it into a camper.
The underside is in very good condition and is solid throughout. The CV joints were replaced in 2023, and this work is documented.
Comes with a spare set of wheels, two of which have new tyres, along with a new wiring harness.
