Welcome to the reluctant sale of my 2002 Audi A6 C5 4. 2 V8 7-seat Avant.
I purchased this in 2024 to break the monotony of driving my BMW 330e for work and have used it only for weekends & occasional trips away since. 'New' home forces sale as we desperately need a new kitchen/ bathroom etc. Hence my project car must go. This car has very good history with thousands having been spent over the years with the last decade spent in the hands of enthusiast owners. My plan was to bring her back to factory which I've started gently doing in the last 12-18 months. The car itself isn't 100% perfect and below details the good and bad points. Good points:Full ZF 5HP gearbox rebuild and strip in 2025 at cost of + £3000 by AutoTrans Gloucester + CV boot X2 recent (6 months) New front tyres - budgets Oil (Castrol) & filters done in April 2026 - last two services have been done by myself. MOT expiry in May 2027 Recent rear brake caliper - May 2026 Recon Radio & de-soft touched it with isopropyl Earlier Pre facelift C5 HVAC controls (better than later ones) Recon rear number plate surround - no cracks like most Recon steering wheel - last one had ring wear evidence Refreshed front head lights with resto kit Replaced rear lights due to cracks LED front side-lights added K&N Air filter - fitted by previous owner Memory & heated leather seats Working Bose Sound system - fantastic Working cruise control 6-CD changer Period correct Nokia handsfree system. x2 keys (+ 3rd Plastic chip key) New F+R reg plates Handbrakes very good after some adjustment Huge amounts of paperwork, bookpacks and history Factory Detachable tow-bar with key included + Space saver All glazing looks to be original inc. windscreen & warning sticker Central locking & three windows work Aftermarket stainless exhaust - sounds great but not too garishly noisy... Good battery Head light washers work Power/ heated mirrors work Cup holders all pop out & function - rare for any VAG car of the time Taken the liberty of removing the bung under battery box (any C5 owner will tell you this is a must do to preserve them)Rare factory 7 seat spec - Not many like this left All rear privacy blinds present, functioning and correct Sits around 2100rpm at 80mph - great comfortable cruiser Done Circa 7, 000miles in my ownership absolutely trouble free all over the UK - wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere. Pulls beautifully up the box & into the higher RPM Oil & Coolant temp sit where they should Only been on E5 in my ownership Always in my ownership, let it warm up for 15-20 before driving Would you believe somehow its ULEZ compliant! Taken it into London 2-3 times and never received a fine - bonkers. Bad points: Bodywork has small imperfections all over, blemishes, dings and scrapes conducive with age, looking at the history it was a London car for a time so unsurprising Head lining sagging (recent heatwave blamed) Rear air bags leak when its stood Rear washer inop Needs a set of wiper blades Rear end is spongy - was on my to do list for 2027 Slight top end suspect valvetrain noise at cold start (0. 5-1 sec) N/ S Front window regulator broken, occasionally drops the window a touch. A/ C needs attention, unsure of issue, was on my to do list for 2026 - Begun by chasing the cheap options, re-gas, fuses & pressure sensor but alas - think its the main compressor like most C5's
Aux belt/ pulleys/ pumps needs doing - was on my to do list for 2027 Gear change controls on steering wheel aren't connected - had this off a scrapper as its tidy Leaking windscreen washer bottle, was on my to do list for 2026 One of the front fog lights doesn't work/ cracked Side indicators missing covers Alloys could definitely do with refurb - was on my to do list for 2027 Pixels on dash are fine when cool however when they warm up begin to disappear as with most C5's/ Audi's on the era A previous owner had tried to fake S6 the car, however, all that now remains is the singular boot badge I've not got round to doing The paintwork overall is reflective of its milage and age - not perfect by a long shot.. Small rust bubbles, flat spots, stone ships & lacquer peel evident. EML has been on for years - O2 sensors not been fitted to aftermarket exhaust many years ago. Likes to drink fuel.. Huge service book/ guide & genuine A6 C5 roof bars with original (tatty) box & key to be included in the sale if achieve close to/ asking price at my discretion; otherwise excluded from sale. Mileage will increase incrementally as I will continue to enjoy the car whilst in my ownership! I've been as honest as possible with this advert, anything not listed is because its not know to me! Absolutely adore this car, I really wanted to see through the restoration and really don't want to sell it however needs must.
