A genuine enthusiast-owned 997. 1 Carrera 4S with exceptional provenance, specification and mechanical history.
For sale is my 2006 Porsche 997. 1 Carrera 4S, finished in the iconic Guards Red, with the highly desirable manual gearbox and 80, 020 miles.
It has had just two owners from new, both Porsche enthusiasts. Originally supplied by Porsche Bournemouth in 2006, it has remained locally owned throughout its life and has been stored in a heated garage and fastidiously maintained.
The original Porsche bill of sale is still with the car and shows an original purchase price of £81, 151, along with an extensive factory specification.
This is an original, beautifully specified 997. 1 Carrera 4S that has simply been looked after properly.

ENGINE REBUILD
At 70, 000 miles, the car developed bore scoring. As you will know, with 997. 1, bore scoring is a case of when, not if, this will occur.
Rather than take any chances, the engine was removed and given a full rebuild by Scott Gardner at Bahnsport in Dorset.
The rebuild included all new barrels, with the barrels machined by Hartech, new Porsche pistons and a complete engine rebuild.
While the engine was out, a number of additional components and upgrades were also carried out, including:

* Three new idler pulleys and bearings

The engine rebuild was also an opportunity to bring the surrounding engine bay and underside up to the same standard as the rest of the car.
The engine carrier frame was removed and powder-coated, and stainless-steel ignition coil covers were fitted.
I am also happy to provide photographs on request showing the engine during the rebuild, before it was refitted to the car. These photographs give a really good insight into the extent of the work carried out and the condition of the engine during the rebuild, and I think prospective buyers will find them particularly interesting.
The rebuild was carried out by Scott Gardner at Bahnsport. Scott has over 15 years of Porsche main-dealer technical experience and was previously Workshop Manager at Porsche Centre Bournemouth. He is a Porsche Gold Level Master Technician and has extensive experience working on these cars.
The engine work, together with the additional mechanical work carried out at the same time, means the major known engine concern has been properly addressed by someone with extensive Porsche experience.
HISTORY
The car has a full Porsche and Bahnsport service history, with no expense spared throughout my ownership.
It has been a genuine joy to own and drive, and it’s a car I have thoroughly enjoyed.
I have a huge history file with the car — around four inches thick — containing an extensive collection of invoices, receipts and supporting documentation.
The original book pack is present, along with the original seller’s business card and the original documentation supplied with the car when it was first sold.
