Great condition 11 Mercedes main dealer stamps several after that specialist. This car has been maintained regardless of cost . Perfect oil pressure . The engine pulls like new uses minimal oil ( 1 L in over 3000 miles) I would say the engine has no wear at all. Chain engine with no signs of needing renewed. Steering as sharp as these get no play , fluids topped and correct. Hydraulic fluid at right level and no leaks ( picture shows staining on bottle), uses no coolant. Engine bay very solid like a 5 year old car The interior is in fantastic condition , and incredibly clean only marks noted are in the pictures . The drivers seat shows minimal wear only on base seat when zoomed in. Everything works sunroof was repaired in last few years and functions as new , vacuum central locking as new , all windows function perfectly all electric. Absolutely no leaks any wear , car smells like an old Mercedes, no musty smells. Headlining perfect , carpets clean and tidy , dash excellent. Had optional seats these have slight staining on base I have cleaned off best I could boot area average to good. Luggage net and boot cover function perfectly . Stowage for spare wheel first aid kit tools all good and all present.
Interior minor bad points . Not much boot area shows use but not heavy the net and cover are on average condition see damage to pull tabs and staining on underneath of cover ( might clean off) also pillar and seat belt shows slight wear ( actually looks like a dog may have had a slight go)
Some of the headrest plastic inserts are missing ( very minor see pics)
No air con not fitted less to go wrong , have driven it on v hot days the ventilation pretty good / well insulated.
Mechanically excellent, has had a lot spent in last few years and although maybe not serviced every year check out how far it’s travelled in last 15 years. Shock replaced top mounts etc in recent history . Auxiliary drive belt and front coupling to propshaft just been done by HA lock Mercedes engineers. Bills for 1000’s on last 5 years . No groans etc from suspension . I also replaced under bonnet insulation ( cost £40 + £15 heat adhesives)
Bodywork
Paint is excellent good shine and no lacquer peel . Few scratches most have been touched in same with stone chips . Incredibly straight car, minimal small parking dings etc see photos. Underneath truly excellent , minimal surface corrosion tested , see photos , absolutely solid nothing structural. This car was sold by Kim Cairns classic dealer in 2022 for £6650 with steel
Wheels and a host of issues all adressed by next owner who spent £1000’s on it and drove it less than 3000 miles . It now has new tyres ( 3500 ago) alloys I think they have been painted they look good but would be better refurbished, spare is unused and 3 years old.
Bad bits
The front drivers wing is rotten I think it’s been badly filled / repaired, the inner wing looks good To me I have had it up on ramps and had a good poke . The passenger wing has been repaired but again had been painted / matched well but shows signs of starting to go . The inner wing is rotten but not a failure . The rear arches have not been touched but are both just starting to go see pics . At some point I think it had a light tap to the boot only sign is slight crease inside tailgate and crack in light lense, the plastic boot trim was cracked I have filled this and will try to blend it in . Both bumpers have been repainted in correct shade but although they look good form even 6 feet they have been done slightly amateur (ishly) but not bad.
To sum up this is a good w124 with excellent history , relatively low mileage , advisory clear mot until January 2027. Excellent interior, everything works mechanically above average/ good. Bodywork I would say is good , look beautiful from 6 feet , great paint . All rust is superficial, non structural. Tempted to do wings myself £90 each plus paint. These clearly range in price from £1500 project to £30k plus now for low mileage minter. I believe it’s priced sensibly especially considering a dealer sold it for £6650 in lesser condition and it’s had £1000’s spent since then. I have driven this 3000 miles in 4 months and has not missed a beat totally reliable . 11 Mercedes main dealer stamps , 3 specialist , several not stamped in book at other specialists. Pile of bills from last 11 years well maintained.
