I bought this Golf R because I wanted something that was genuinely exciting to drive but still practical enough to use every day. The Mk6 Golf R has always stood out to me because it combines performance, four-wheel drive and everyday usability in a way that very few cars manage to do.
What really makes this one special is its combination of condition, mileage, history and tasteful modifications. At just 48, 000 miles, it’s a very low-mileage example, and it has an extensive documented Japanese and UK history. The CAR VX report provides a detailed record of its Japanese history, including auction records showing a 4. 5 grade and consistent mileage progression. For me, the favourite thing about the car is the way it drives. The combination of the 2. 0 TFSI, DSG and 4MOTION gives it that instant performance and confidence that makes even an ordinary drive enjoyable. It feels planted, quick and purposeful, while still being a genuinely usable hatchback.
It also has that classic Mk6 Golf R character that newer cars don’t quite replicate. It’s compact, understated and analogue enough to feel special, but still has plenty of performance.
I genuinely love this car and wouldn’t be selling it simply because I wanted something different. I’ve only decided to put it up for sale because I’ve found a BMW M135i that I consider something special enough to make me change cars. If I hadn’t found that particular car, I’d happily keep the Golf.
I’m therefore looking for a buyer who understands what they’re looking at and will appreciate the car rather than simply looking for the cheapest Golf R available.
