Description
Here we have for sale my totally original 1990 3 Door Big Bumper Mk2 Golf GTI 16v in iconic metallic Oak Green.
H904 WTO was first registered on the 08/ 10/ 90 by Sandiciffe Motor Contracts as a lease car for Mr Fisher as a replacement for his Mk2 GTI 16v small bumper in Monza Blue, he went on to own this GTI for the next 21 years and cherish it, was always put away every night next to the boiler in his double garage. He eventually sold it in 2011 for a brand new Audi TT. It was serviced religiously at Deepdene VW and then Drift Bridge Garage VW in Epsom, Surrey and every time it was serviced he would give the service advisor a piece of paper explaining what he wanted doing and wanting all the old parts back, he made 2 copies and the other went straight into the history file, which there are 4 folders, you’d need a day to read through it all!
I’ve had many Mk2’s over the last 30 years but never had one with such a comprehensive history file as this one. He even photocopied the cheque for £4850 on the 07/ 10/ 95 when he decided to purchase the car off the lease company and he even asked for break down of every single penny they had spent on the up keep of car and there is a letter showing the expenditure.
There is a MOT certificate for every year it had a test.
Every time this GTI has had money spent on it there is an invoice for it, even for something as minuscule as some washer fluid, there’s an invoice from VW.
There is a sales brochure for when he ordered it and a specification and equipment and also alloy wheel brochure.
Service history.

I’ve owned the car for the last 6 years and during my time I’ve improved but still kept its originality with various NOS parts after scouring the internet and eBay, most the paintwork is original and wanted keep it that way, I’ve recently Dry Ice blasted the underneath of the car.
The exhaust system is all genuine VAG and the boxes are in good condition.
It still has all its original glass, even has the registration number etched on every piece of glass including the windscreen. All the BBS RA’s were refurbished in the correct shade of silver with NOS BBS centre caps and the tyres are 185/ 55/ 15 Michelin Exalto 2 and have covered less than a 1000 miles since being fitted and also NOS wheel bolts along with Quantam locking wheel bolts.
All 4 brake callipers have been refurbished in the correct zinc colour with new pistons and rubbers, new rubber brake pipes and new discs and pads and new back plates were fitted.
The bodywork is in superb condition all round, when I bought it the bonnet was a slight shade lighter, so I had it it painted and blended the front wings, which are the original wings. Apart from that the rest of the car is original paintwork with that lovely VW orange peel, I even went to the trouble of getting the numbers plates, tax disc holder and rear window sticker from the supplying dealer Newbolds Garage Vw and a correct period tax disc. All the plastics and bumpers are scuff free, I sourced NOS lower plastic side sills with new jacking point covers along with a pair of NOS rear arches all of which have been fitted to the car.
All window rubbers and scrapers are still supple along with the roof rubbers which are in near perfect condition.
I’m very particular being a professional Detailer of 30 years (Supercar Detailing)
The car was recently serviced with a new cambelt and water pump replacement on the 06/ 07/ 26 at SMG VW along with its mot and was delivered and collected to VW in my covered trailer, so hasn’t even covered any miles since.
The iconic Rainbow interior is in fantastic condition, drivers bolster is showing no signs of wear, the steering wheel still has the original grain on it. It has its original pull out blaupunkt Melbourne SQ39 along with a Fischer cassette holder in the centre consul.
It has the rare factory option of rear headrests, which I’ve only seen on a few MK2’s. The barcode sticker is still present in the boot on the rear panel, jack and space saver all in like new condition, the first owner even put a slim piece of wood under the boot car
The barcode sticker is still present in the boot on the rear panel, jack and space saver all in like new condition, the first owner even put a slim piece of wood under the boot carpet to stop it sagging which is still in situe.
The rear parcel shelf is in very good condition.
It has a fully closure alarm and immobiliser that was fitted in 1998 and still all works now. All the sunroof mechanism works as it should and headlining is all in good condition.
The service wallet is in like new condition along with all the books and the service book which has 23 Vw main agent stamps and 2 specailists and I’d always ask the service advisor to put a post-it note on the opposite page when they stamped the book to stop the ink from going on the page!
There are 2 sets of keys with one being original 16v key bullet you pull out and the metal Vw tag you got with a new key, 2 alarm fobs present.
I truly believe this Golf to be a bit of a unicorn to be this original and not to have been restored after 36 years is quite incredible and therefore I’m in no rush to sell this GTI 16v in the much desirable Oak Green, MK2’s this original very rarely come to market especially with such a comprehensive service history. It’s been part of my own VW collection for the last 6 years now and if it doesn’t sell I will just simply put it away. Plenty of photos upon request or have a look at my instagram page gti_wolfsburg.
