Description
Model History: Launched in 1953 to celebrate the brand's fiftieth anniversary, the Cadillac Eldorado embodied the pinnacle of American automotive luxury. Originally conceived as an exceptional model in a very limited series, the Eldorado was a condensed blend of style, innovation and prestige, designed to appeal to an elitist clientele. The first generation (1953) was immediately recognisable by its panoramic windscreen, sleek lines and highly exclusive finishes. Produced in just 532 examples, it is one of the rarest Cadillacs ever built. Over the years, the Eldorado has established itself as a distinctive model in the Cadillac range. It adopted ever more sophisticated equipment, ever more generous lines, and was soon equipped with a powerful V8 engine, a guarantee of performance and comfort on the road. In 1957, the Eldorado was available in two versions: the Seville (coupé) and the Biarritz (cabriolet), consolidating its status as a top-of-the-range model. The 1964 model year marked the end of the fourth generation of the Eldorado. This model retained the elegance and refinement of its predecessors while benefiting from the latest technical developments, in particular a 429 ci (7. 0L) V8 engine developing 340 bhp, combined with a 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic gearbox.
Total production of the 1964 Eldorado amounted to 1, 870 units, exclusively in the Biarritz cabriolet version, making it a model as rare as it is sought-after by collectors.
